MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP)—The mother of Miami Heat basketball star LeBron James(notes) was arrested by Miami Beach police after she reportedly assaulted a valet worker because it was taking too long to have her car delivered.

Police said Gloria James had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and her eyes were bloodshot when officers arrived at the hotel about 4:47 a.m. Thursday.

Police said several witnesses supported valet worker Sorel Rockfeller’s account of the alleged assault.

Gloria James was taken to the Miami Beach Police Department, where she was issued a Promise to Appear on charges of simple battery and disorderly conduct. A police report says she was released to Miami Heat executive Steve Stowe.

Gloria James pleaded no contest to DUI and other charges in 2006.

Poor Steve Stowe. Dude has to wake up and take drunk ass Gloria home to further enable his superfriend player and his drunk ass mom.

Lebron does not have any sober friends at that hour that a Heat employee has to get out of his bed and take her home?

yeah apparently one of the reasons for his poor play in the playoffs last yr was the Delonte West rumors.

i'd put mom under house arrest if i was him.

The Lebron James story is a cautionary tale abpout how money turns people into ***holes. LeDOuche himself who was taking about getting his number retired in CLevland. His mother with this and the guy who claims to be his father trying to sue them some months back.

LeBron has done a lot to suggest that his ego is out of control and in some ways he has made himself very unlikeable. That being said I feel bad for him that his mom keeps embarassing him.

If LeBron James could have a do-over would he take it? He had a better team in Cleveland, he was well-liked and he was performing in a pressure free environment.

That all changed with his infamous move to Miami and things have gone from bad to worse with LeBron's mother, Gloria James, arrested early Thursday for drunk and disorderly conduct.

LeBron would never admit it, but I think he'd take a do-over.
