First there was 6'11 Channing Frye. He would be perfect right now. The outside range he discovered in Phoenix as three point specialist would spread the floor and have the opposite effect of teams ignoring Jared Jeffries like a buck-toothed step cousin. Then there was Jordan Hill. He appeared kinda jumpy and frantic, but for other players that is described as "high energy." He can, at least, make a layup.
Then there was Darko. Never known for his personality, his desire to play basketball was already fragile when he arrived in New York and everyone knew it. What happened? It got worse. He went from discouraged to locker room cancer. He had to go. Now he starts.
Which brings us to Anthony Randolph. 21 years old and just as impressionable. Fragile and in need of direction and SUPPORT. Something to build his confidence and get the crowd in his favor. In New York people chant for Roger Mason Jr. Randolph was poised to be a crowd favorite because he was a just a kid and he was ours. A 6'11 gazelle with ability to handle off the dribble. How much more do you need to work with? With that skill set I would lock him in the gym AGAINST his will and MAKE him an all star. No meals. No TV. No nothing. Just play ball until you drop.
Where was the extra support from the coaching staff? Where was the infusion of inspiration and guidance? Something is missing. Either Herb Williams is simply too passive and only cares about his paycheck, or Mike D'Antoni and his brother have an insidious phobia against tall guys.
No matter what the reason, glancing at the Wolves box score sucks.
I miss Timofey Mozgov.
