according to the CIA Factbook, Qatar has the second highest per capita income in the world. I bring this up because my belief is these revolts ultimately have to do with the piece of the pie the people get, and property owner rights.
My company is ~50,000 and I already started pestering THE safety guy about the location specific evacuation plan. A coworker that worked in Iraq/Afghanistan used to carry a big shiny gold coin in case things got sticky because that has value to everyone, anywhere. I'm going to do the same and use it for "cabfare" if things get sticky
Doha is supposed to be very nice. I have a Saudi friend who is a petroleum engineer in New Orleans, and he said he's actively trying to get there

Never got to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Cairo but I definitely will this time. There was nothing to do in Libya and I was pretty lonely. I tended to go to place were English speaking tourists were to stay sane. Everyone speaks English and there are US universities there... I actually think it will be easier to immerse

Would you mind if I asked jimi or fishy for your email? I would love to get some career progression advice... I know this will be marketable in the future, but I just stumbled into this world. Would be curious to hear what you think

It absolutely is. I will. This was my favorite picture from my Libya trip:
