Yes I can be a man and admit that we gave up way too much for what we gave back. I realize watching Denver go 10-3 with half of our line up scoring 120 points a game and we struggle with and lose to mediocre teams is compelling evidence. Not only that--but I admit to now understanding that Denver also took away our ability to improve for years by draining all of our picks in the first and second round took us for the and possibly capping us out with two players. I admit that Carmelo is a very good player but not a tier 1 guy--he wasnt NEARLY worth what we paid nor do I know if he was the right player for us in ANY event. I admit we were taken--that team is above player and that this ultimate starphuch might be a disaster we will not live down for a decade.

Briggs- way to early to tell how the trade is going to work out. I mean, just discount the 10 & 3 Denver has achieved, and throw out the pathetic knick losses, and we came out on top

Seriously, though, it might be early to man up, but Melo is a serious diva.

If you call this manning up you maned up even before the Knicks maned up and made the trade.

I hate this team right now but I gotta say its too short sighted to say this right now. The trade was made as a huge step towards a championship. Everyone from Melo to Denver and the media and even our owner played us to give up more than we wanted to, but we were making that trade either way. Still, this team needs a few pieces to contend, while Denver has a lot of role players playing solid basketball but aren't closer to a championship than they were with Melo.

The funny part is people really believe D Walsh did this deal. Tell me what scker is paying 50% more for the tickets for this crp? Are people really that stupid? For the first time in 38 years of my 43 I could care less if I see the Knicks play--didnt even watch them tonight---pawn brokers had more entertainment value.

Sell the team Dolan you short POS--your daddy gave you the money--you didnt earn a fkcing penny. Spoon fed midget

The problem was hiring Antoni 3 years ago. Knicks need to hire a head coach who understands that defense is what wins. Always has, always will.

Good post. This team in miserable to watch right now. No getting around that. But while everyone would like to see them playing well, this move was for the future. We were not becoming a contender with a core of Gallo Felton and Amar'e. Melo and Amar'e is the core we are building on they don't know how to play together yet. And Billups needs to come off the bench if his AWEFUL play persists.

I hope and pray with the back to backs over with and more home games we can practice and improve. We are not winning a chip this year and weren't going to before the trade. But we have 2 stars in their prime. Maybe we can pull out a first round stunner and maybe not. but we have a core as good as any team in the league now. We need time. I'm impatient and pissed as anyone but we have to bear this for now.

When they started 6-3 with this roster you were excited. I remember the Jefferies was a key get thread, etc.

We have sucked for 2 weeks straight. If we win 5 in a row everyone will say we figured it out. It's clear that this is going to take time. We have to understand that whether they win 5 straight or lose 6/7 it will not bs an accurate representation of our talent and potential.

The only time I have been excited in the last three weeks with the Knicks is when someone posted that Kardashian poster.

Haha....fair.

For what it's worth, Melo trying to keep his chin up after the game. He said he sat on the bench after the game knowing that the ship would turn right and that he's excited about it.

He's had diva moments but I hope this side of him is sincere.

I think this is the biggest problem. He can say he coaches defense all he wants, but if that's true then he's just not good at it

I would say that it's a combination of both, but the players have shown that they just don't give 100% on the defensive end all the time. How can you watch the games we've lost and not see that it's the players laziness and poor attitude on the defensive end that is the real problem.

STAT had one game were he repeatedly zoned out and wasn't paying attention to see the ball and his man and got burned each time for easy scores. He can't blame that on coaching. He just wasn't doing the most basic thing that is taught in BB from Middle School up to the pros. SEE YOUR MAN, SEE THE BALL. If he had done just that he would've been in position to stop those plays.

huh? coaching defense is all about coaching positioning and telling guys where to be and how to react if a teammate gets beat.

anyone saying d'antoni is a good defensive coach is silly. don't be silly.

Another one of these. This is sad. I have to be honest, Briggs, i saw you as one of the most knowledgeable fans on this board, but you have lost most credibility with your comments relating to the trade the last few weeks. To say the trade is poor at this point in the process is just immature, especially when we were just a .500 team before the trade with little upside to ever be more than an early-exit playoff team. It is a rebuilding phase, let it happen first.

Did anyone actually watch the game last night? They should have won and the defense was again not to blame. Turnovers late in the game and dumb shots were the cause of the loss last night. The defense has been better as of late.

Gallo and Wilson did their thing last night. The Nuggets put up 123 points with Gallo and Chandler combinining for 21. Man, take those two off the team and the Nuggets only win 101-90. Seriously though, can people stop moaning about the trade and look at what the players we gave up are actually doing in Denver?

Damn it forgot to add Mozgov's 5 Points That's 26 points from our beloved former players. Moz was dominating last night in his 10 minutes of action. 5 huge points and rebound. I'm telling you this guy is a force and in now way should have been included in the deal.
