1. Time for the stars to gel and 2. Time for Donnie to rebuild this supporting cast.

Until those 2 things happen no one can judge this team negatively like they have been.

this team needs one thing more than anything else: melo to become a team player and start doing the "little" things, and not just scoring 25 a game. if he can't do that, they won't go anywhere. fact.

This team is fine. They don't need anything. It was not their fault they lost tonight. Celtics and the referees cheated. We would have won this game without their cheating ways. Celtics are scared of us. These are the tactics they will use to beat us now. We must be prepared to beat these jolly green shamrocks. We are formidable. They are afraid. We have to flex our muscles and we will.

Like I said in the game thread, they need more players who can create their own shot.

they don't need offense, they need people who will play D.
Turiaf is a good defender, if only he was able to give us solid minutes without being hurt all the time.
We need a wing defender and a defensive center.
it's mind boggling they let brewer go as he was supposed to be a wing defender.

i think we have plenty of guys that can create their own shot, the problem is there's no cohesion on the floor everyone is playing Iso & no one's moving w/o the ball... but hey we all know we can't blame the coach when breakdowns in the offense & defense happen on the floor.

Jared Jeffries was supposed to be the shutdown defender this team needed, so far he's been worse than i remember him being, which is pretty incredible in itself.

because that's when real teams play Defense, which the knicks don't do.

Our defense wasn't the problem in the 4th quarter. We turned the ball over and lost our heads. We panicked against a team that's been there and done that. The scary thing is that we have a player that's been there and done that and he cost us the game.

They need both. Can't just rely on Stat in the paint to do all the work. Fields doesn't have a mid range game yet which means we have a starting SG who doesn't do much shooting from anywhere but the corner. Jeffries? No way. Turiaf? Not enough to be called reliable.

This makes it easier for other teams to double Amare and Melo. The more options on offense the Knicks have the harder it will be to shut them down.

No no. JJ is not a shutdown defender. he is a decent 1-on-1 defender and a very good team/help defender. And he can guard multiple positions. That's his MO.

Don't overrate him. This is not Rodman in his prime. Or Artest without a shot. Very different.

This team has 5 players that belong in a rotation, Stat, Melo, Billups, Fields, and Douglas. You can make an argument that either Turiaf or Jeffries belong in a rotation as 9th man or 4th big man, but that means there are three spots 6th-8th that need to be filled before we can expect this team to be a contender. One has to be a starting center (Varajao, Dalembert, Camby, McGee, D Jordan, etc) then we need a backup big and another scorer off the bench.

Shrimps R Us

6'9.5 Stat, 6'8 Melo, 6'7 Fields, 6'3 Billups and 6'2 Douglas.

The Wish List: 6'11+ Center, 6'11 backup center, 6'10 forward, 6'6 guard with a handle

That's eight

Piece of cake

Footnote: 6'9 Shawne Williams can stay. That's nine.

I think that should be our starting line up, and I am really surprised MDA has not gone with that group. He might be afraid of the criticism that would follow.

However, I think our problems late in games has been execution, spacing and ball movement, maybe having 2 pgs out there would help.

franco - Toney Douglas is just a guard. His pointing in the fourth quarter needs work.

I miss Ray Felton.
