Jimmer Fredette is projected as a lottery pick in the 2011 NBA draft.

Having grown up in upstate New York, Fredette's ideal NBA landing spot would be New York City, according to his older brother T.J.

"We want him to go to the Knicks," T.J. told the Inquirer. "That's our team."

The Houston Rockets can swap first round picks with the Knicks in the 2011 draft so long as New York's 1st round pick is not the 1st overall selection.

I think Jimmer would be perfect for D'Antoni's previous SSOL O. Even in our new halfcourt offense I think he'd be a perfect outlet for Amare down low. A guard isn't our biggest need but hey if he's available (highly unlikely) I say you draft him. BPA over need any day.

He'd be okay on offense, but he's the single worst defender on BYU. All of their conference opponents attack Jimmer when on offense. He's terrible at defense. I'd be upset if that were the pick

Its a moot point. I'd be shocked if he's on the board when we pick.

But if we did draft him, no worries! Mike 'Antoni would teach him to play D.

how much of that is staying out of foul trouble as he's the leading scorer on the planet? Much like teams used to attack Amare (quite successfully). It seems like the few crunch times I have seen him he's a decent defender. During the meat of the game he stays away from contact.. thats for sure.

Thats not really me defending him, more an observation.

This would be a GREAT pick for the Knicks because Fredette can play right away and the Knicks need that. I like (for this team) Chris Singleton, Kenneth Faried, Keith Benson and Fredette for sure. I think Fredette could be a great role player spreading the floor for the bigger guns. The other guys I mentioned look like good defensive lunch pale type players

I don't think Fredette has a snowball's chance in hell to impact the game the same way Amar'e does. Fredette is a poor man's JJ Reddick. I don't think he's shown he can become the distributor that Stephen Curry did. I think he'll last as a role player in the NBA, but I'd rather the team look for players that can affect the game outside of three point shooting

If I had dollar for every player who wanted to play here. Nice story but can't see it happening. Remember when Yao only wanted to work out with Van Gundy cause he wanted NY?

Didn't we have a chance to get this guy last year if we only made a promise to draft him, and we were not willing to make the promise? Who ever made that decision should be fired.

They know D isn't really part of 'Antoni.

So true. Besides, we would have a tiny backcourt, him and TD. Although, we could re-sign JJ and let him check the SG on the other team. Our Line-up is:

Fredette
JJ
Melo
Amar'e
Center TBD

lol. Maybe combined it would be so bad the counter would turn over and he'd actually be a great defender.

Yeah right. Jared Jeffries at two guard is the answer.

Is Fredette 7' tall?

No?

I'll pass.

A scoring guard who plays no defense...sounds perfect for this team.

The Knicks don't need Fredette. Heck, the Knicks don't even need guards.

same was said about Stephen Curry. Dude's a player. fredette brings a lot to the table. I could see him shut down workouts for a Knick promise

Papabear Says

then Denver would draft him and we would have to give up Melo , Fields and Amare to get him. LOL

Nope. He wanted to be a first round pick.

Fredette and Kemba want to be Knicks.

How would people feel about packaging the #1 pick with Toney to move up? We can't trade the pick before the draft, but we can draft someone for another team and trade the player after he's picked.

Or do we just sit at 17-20 or so and take the best available player? I think at this point, it might be better to have the depth than to try to swing a trade up for a better player.
