At this point, I'd have to say that my 3 favorite players are :

1. STAT : he has it all, the game, the attitude. I'm very impressed by the way he embraced the team and the city
2. TD23 : I love the way he plays the game with constant hustle... great D, great effort
3. Shawne Williams : his corner 3 make me jump off my seat... when he gets the ball there you know he's automatic

I think I'll need time to get used to liking Melo, and even though I really like what Billups brings to the table, I usually prefer the younger guys with upside... but that's just me :p

I dont really know these guys well enough yet. I probably root for Douglas the most because he's a homegrown scrappy dude.. a real old school Knick from the 90s. He's positively John Starks like, both with his intensity and his mental shot selection but I find myself pulling for him the most.

Amare has always been one of my fav players in the league... that one is easy.

Mostly I just want to enjoy the team and get into that over individual players

"One... two... three and to the FO'...

1. Stat - "the Knicks are back" was a bold statement this summer

2. Fields - "Compton and LONG BEACH now you KNOW you in trouble" (ain't nuthin' but a guard thing, bay-bee.)

3. Shawne Williams - I love a good second chance story (or is this his third chance?)

Im with you there... he's also a tough blue collar guy. He comes in and bangs and defends. He's got great size. People dont realize he's 6'9 and has a longer wingspan than anyone else on this team.

fishmike - outstanding recognition of the skill set Williams brings to his game beyond the three ball. he has contributed some key blocked shots this season. Shawne started at center against Dwight Howard without flinching and did not embarrass himself.

Too tough to call. I've always appreciated the understated and/or under-appreciated players. Patrick was truly one of the best, yet he did not get the love he deserved on a national level. Houston was an unassuming killer. Oakley and Mason just played hard and made you hurt. Starks, I mean the guy was bagging groceries and then balling at MSG. David Lee always brought it, even when the team was a lost cause (like that there fella in Minny). And Wilson was another great guy in that regard. This is just a short list, but you get my point. Amare's kind of in that Ewing role, or was until the win streak and folks couldn't ignore him anymore. Fields is seriously a glue guy, he helps the team win regardless of of a sparse or gaudy stat line, and Billups and Douglas would round it out, as they are both doing what needs to be done in the manner of true PGs...get the team set and distribute, but if you got the shot, take it and sink it. And that last part is big as I was really against taking Billups, but he's proved me wrong like Amare did so many us when we were suspect of his signing.

So:

Amare
Fields
Billups/Douglas

I love Melo too, but he's supposed to do what he's doing and he's a renowned star (again, I know Amare is too, but people weren't thinking that way at the beginning of the season).

KnicksFan's Top 3:

1. Billups - cerebral all-star leader sometimes beats superstar
2. Amar'e - THE leader, he wanted NY and shines on the spotlight
3. Melo - newyorker who give us the wing superstar we needed, the closer

Honorable mention:

4. Fields - a rookie mature beyond his years, solid from A to Zinc
5. Jeffries - he knows his limitations and still gives his all on defense for the team, great attitude

Really?? I like Williams also but this is the example you show. Didn't Dwight have like 18 pts in the 1st quarter and we were down like 15? Asking Williams to guard Dwight is impossible but you can't praise him for that game bacause it was am embarassment to me. Dwight scored at will.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate
