Felton & Wilson are starting for the Nugs doing pretty much what they did for me before the trade, Gallo has become their 6th man & Timo was just sent down to the D Leagues.
btw, Rautins is a beast in the D-Leagues, he's putting up double doubles like there's no tomorrow. lol
I hated the Melo trade and do now.... but I have always liked Melo. I still don't put him in LeBrons league, which has always been my arguement.
Two things about him. One that has pleasantly surprised me, and one that has dissapointed me.
His effort on defense has been very good and he's been hustling and making hardnosed plays. He's getting on my good side because of this. If it weren't for that, he'd already be on my bad side, because of this.
The guy is a 1 on 5 player. He's extremely incredible at it, but that's his game, and it's not enjoyable to watch IMO. He grabs a rebound on defense, takes the ball up the court and goes for a score. Or in one case today, he got a steal, after Memphis got the rebound, and got the ball back all the way to halfcourt, then went one on one from there. Again, he's incredibly good at it, but it's also painful to watch for a basketball enthusiast like me. His game is what his game is though, and you just have to accept that, because it sure isn't changing and he's a Knick.
talent wise i don't put Melo in Lebron's class either, who is? Kobe, Dwight? but if u ask me who i think is a better money player & big shot making closer than i take Melo every time over Lebron... & Melo's easily as good as any other player you can name IMO, including guys like Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, Derrick Rose, CP3, etc. we've had this discussion many times already... we just agree to disagree on this issue.
i agree Melo's been putting forth good effort on defense & he's passing the ball willingly, but those are not things i ever doubted about him to begin with, i've already seen him play good defense on Kobe in the WCF & he's made some very impressive passes in games he's played... i don't ever expect him to be Magic Johnson or Larry Bird out there with the ball but he's not a black hole like Zach Randolph was, not even close.
as for Melo being a 1 on 5 player, how did u feel when you watched Patrick Ewing pound the ball in the post on every single possession back in the day & force up shots against double coverage? was that painful to watch for you too? i only ask cuz i wanna get a sense of the type of basketball you'd like to see played in NY... not all great players that have played for us were well adapted to ball movement & crisp passing... Melo does what he does & does it better than just about everyone in the NBA... to have a player like him on this team is something to get excited about for me as a fan who's suffered through many lean years rooting for "franchise talent" that never had the talent to make us even a respectable NBA franchise... since '99 we haven't had talent we could really be proud of until now IMO... there were times us Knick fans tried to talk ourselves into believing that the talent we had was good enough to contend with, but if i'm being honest i have to say i never honestly felt this team was a legitimate contender until now since the '99 team that made the Finals.
