I hope Chris Paul is OK and returns to the NBA court ASAP. With that said:

I have no interest whatsoever in signing this guy next Summer and it has nothing to do with talent. The guy is a walking injury and his game appears to be deteriorating right before our eyes. Giving him max money be an enormous mistake... that's if we have the max money to give him. Dwight Howard is the way to go next Summer. We don't need either of the PGs.

If you can add Howard to Amare/Melo you do it, no questions asked.

Melo/Amare/Howard -on paper- would probably be the most loaded frontcourt since Bird/McHale/Parrish, which I consider possibly the best of all time.

Whether they could actually mesh would remain to be seen, but damn, we're lucky to even be in the conversation for such a thing.

Dwight actually would be a great add to this team. His skillset will mesh with Amare and Melo. He really is not an iso player and would be great at just gobbling up rebounds and playing defense.

Howard's decision will be an interesting one. There is good reason to think either he or LA will make a move to unite on that team, trading some combo of Bynum/Gasol/Odom to pair Dwight with Kobe. But Kobe will be 34 by the start of 2012 season and that knee ain't getting any better. Would Howard want the last year or 2 of Kobe and a capped out Lakers team with marginal aging support? It certainly would be a team he could call his own after a few years and the sparkle of LA would frame his personality nicely.

Howard goes to NY and that's a dynasty set for a decade.

CP3 may be one of the best PGs in the league and I hope he fully recovers from his concussion... but that dude is injury prone, and IMO is too much of a risk for this team to bank on.

We need a PG who is less frail, which is why I'm leaning more toward preferring Deron Williams. If he walks from the Nyets and signs with the Knicks, they'll look like fools for trading for him w/o an extension.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

that move in my mind would be like when malone and payton went to LA to chase a chip and fell short. although this time = kobe on the decline and howard in prime. just dont see that 2 man show getting that far, let alone winning a ring. a better destination for howard would be the knicks

D-12's recent comments suggest he isn't a fan of building a Super Power team. He did say during this past summer's Free Agent coup every player has a right to make his own decision but he didn't seem too enthralled at colluding. He made a comment right before they played the Heat and beat them in Miami.

I have no idea what he'll do personally. Sounds like he wants players to come play with him saying Orlando is still the most attractive place and citing how they built a new arena and wonderful place to live.

We'll have cap space to at least make him look our way. A lot still depends on the next CBA, what we do with Fields, more importantly if D-12 signs the extension

Yeah, Howard is a long shot. CP3 is the near shot.

Weird that whole business with the league owning the Hornets though. Stern will be leery to show any favoritism to the Knicks.

or they could face the prospect of losing him for nothing. Who would want to buy a team that didn't have CP3 signed up long term?

Utah prob made the smartest move in retrospect.

Exactly, they're not gonna let him walk for nothing, but I don't see us having an attractive package to offer in trade either. Letting him walk would be seen as favoring the Knicks, clearly.

on the other hand, what team is gonna trade for CP3 without an extension? Or what team has enough after a trade that he extend with?

The thought has been put out there by NYC media of course that he'll gift wrap CP3 to Orlando. I don't see how that's possible honestly. The two teams I'd look out for is Clippers/Nuggets

If we go into next season with somewhat of a skeleton roster and don't make improvements after this season, I don't see any major power move happening in 2012.

Stern was on Bill Simmons' podcast recently. Simmons asked if the league might use contracting the Hornets as leverage in CBA negotiations and Stern said that it might be a possibility.

David West is already talking about the Nets... The Hornets are somewhat of a mess. The fact they made a trade taking on salary when they are losing money hand over fist is a farce in of itself.

This has the "melo trade" written all over it. I cant take another season and a half of this!

But seriously, we can't give up another package like that, nor do we have it to give.

Howard goes to LA. Williams stays where he is, because nailing Prokohorv's model/Russian ballet friends on yachiting voyages in the Carribean and/or Adriatic Sea has a certain appeal

I'll give ya the dynasty part... but a decade? That's a stretch. Still, +100000 on Howard over PG. If the Lakers entice him, I'd go for Deron before CP3, based solely on durability.
