Fire Mike D'Antoni

The Carmelo trade was horrible.

We really missed the 3 pointers from a 6'9" player tonight. Boy if we only we had a tall forward who could hit it.

Oh if only we could have traded for a back up PG who could be a leader.

And our Center position. God, we really missed those 4 pts and 2 rbds. Just horrible.

So disappointing watching our team blowing out yet another playoff team ON THE ROAD.

I sarcastically agree with everything you said, except the D'Antoni part. He actually sucks

yeah - mike sucks. Maybe he starts using more defensive players/style like tonight and learns how to use his timeouts and he will change my mind - maybe
so here is what phil is thinking ....

If we can play D like this consistently I'll glady eat everything I wrote. But so far the stats don't lie and we've been strung along for enough time that it'll take more than 2/5 games of good D to override his longstanding record of matador D.

At some point fans are gonna realize that Mike isn't on the court playin. He can draw up the greatest plays known to man, but if the players either can't or won't execute, then there's nothing he can do. I still believe that in the end he's proven to be a good coach and he'll direct this team well enough to win. It's up to the players at that point. Tonight guys stepped up and played great TEAM defense.

We need this thread after every win and a "That trade was great" thread after every loss.

They're both so original and funny.

While I agree to some extent, it is all about priorities. While some coaches like D rivers and SVG in the huddle are screaming "we need stops - get in their faces!", MDA can be heard always saying "we need shots, we gotta run, we gotta push ..."

A defensive coach is always preaching D, D, D

I hereby move that from this point on there are no Good Trade/Bad Trade knee-jerk gloating threads following losses and wins. Seconded?

I think Mike can be seen on the sidelines getting on his team all the time about D. It's all about perception. People just want to believe that he doesn't talk defense even tho there is evidence that he has been. At some point tho, it's not about how much you scream about D. It's the pride the players have about doing what it takes to win. Today they acted like they cared. I'm pretty sure that Mike didn't say much different this time in the huddle.

What I did notice was the return of the Zone defense. Haven't seen that in a long time. It was nice and effective. They need a change of pace defense to mix things up once in a while.

Yeah - I think the zone is back because of Jeffries. He is really making a defensive difference. He can guard any player anytime - nice pickup.

A good coach needs to get his vets to play D. It is easy to get Carter, Mason, Shawn W and TD to play D since they have alot to prove. Maybe if he gives the D guys more PT it will send the vets a message and they will follow suit. Lets hope.

Haha - Johnson is way overrated! But DW gets no credit (quite the contrary) - he woulda signed him if JJ agreed.

Isn't it nice that we don't have to worry about the team falling apart when STAT isn't in the game? Having either him or Melo in at all times will make life very easy on most nights.

YUP! That's the whole point of having multiple stars. You can keep a certain level of play when guys go to the bench. It's even more important when we get Billups back. He's going to be the key to us getting out of the 1st rd IMO. Having a vet like Carter has proven to be a big help too. If Mason can give us good minutes here and there, it's another plus. The schedule is so dense with games in March, we're gonna need a deep bench.

We need to look at results over an extended period of time and look at who we are beating and who we are losing to.

After the Cavs loss we need at least 3-5 games like this to wipe away the taste of that defeat.

Not only did he keep in a defensive lineup to close out the game, but that defensive unit also hit some big outside shots.

At least we're winning or at least competitive with the good teams in the East. We could easily have won that Magic game and we've beaten the Heat and Hawks. From just watching the games, you don't get the feeling that we're not in that class. We can be considered on our way up towards the top of the East. I think with more time together this roster will fair very well in the playoffs against the teams right ahead of us.
