Boy, all I can think is that Boston is so dumb for trading away Kendrick Perkins.

they prob were going to lose him. Think of it as gaining Kristic and Green.

Yup. Kristic is a very good player. You give him some time and he should be ok. Hopefully in a melee, Kristic tosses a chair straight into KGs noggin.

Sources: Troy Murphy picks Celtics
http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nba/news/story?id=6170568

Highly coveted free agent Troy Murphy is signing with the Boston Celtics.

Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that Murphy has chosen to join the Celtics after spending much of the past 48 hours agonizing between Boston and the Miami Heat since reaching buyout terms with the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.

Danny Ainge should send a note to Pat Riley: "Do you like apples?"

wish we coulda got murphy. was walsh atleast interested? seems to me he'd fit mike's vision of a center like a glove. he would start and get a ton of playing time here too.

I don't think it was if walsh was interested as much as what teams Murphy was interested in. Dude was only gonna get vet min so perhaps he thought he would go for a ring? What bigger stage to audition your next contract but on a deep playoff team?

yes, walsh went after him, but he was only interested in signing with a contender.

i think troy murphy is being completely overrated by a lot of people. i doubt he cracks the rotation in boston. i saw him in new jersey this season and he looked HORRENDOUS. out of shape.

He will probably get plenty of minutes because he is a solid PF. Murphy's problem is he plays no defense and is always injured.

I didnt want us to get him because I dont see the need for him since he plays no defense. Melo and Amare can get your 20 rebounds if they want in the playoffs.

i dunno its not like the knicks aren't going to make the playoffs plus he'd be starting for them IN the playoffs.. i mean i figure he would start.

whatever, water under the bridge now i guess.

Every report from Bucher, Stein, Hahn, etc. said the same thing; NY, Miami, Boston, OKC, and others were all interested in signing him but he was really only looking at Miami and Boston. It's not surprising, Boston and Miami are both championship contenders that need help at the center position. He can probably get more money after this season if he provides valuable minutes to a team in the ECF or NBA Finals. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up the starter for either of those teams.

I'd rather have Perkins than what they acquired. I do think they made a mistake. That said, I do think the Celtics are trying to matchup with the Heat and aren't really all too concerned with the Magic anymore (but in the process forgot about the Lakers).
