You heard it here first folks. The Knicks just ground out a hard fought win against the Heat even though they still don't know the offense and are still without whatever reinforcement bigs that we'll add through the waiver wire.

We'll either end up going up against the Heat or the Bulls, both of which have had a hard time handling the Knicks. We have four top tier 4th quarter performers in Amare, Melo, Chauncey and Fields. That's going to be huge in a playoff series.

Meanwhile the 76ers and wingspan favorite, Jrue Holiday, have only lost three times in February. Philly is killing the rest of the league since the calendar turned to 2011. They have guys that are a very tough matchup on both ends.

I could easily see the Knicks and the 76ers both advancing the way the season is playing out. That would leave the Celtics and probably the Hawks as the other 2nd round teams.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I don't see Orlando beating the Hawks from what I see right now. Hawks have so many weapons, so many closers. Orlando has Howard and that'll get you a long way, but I don't think its good enough in the improved East anymore. His surrounding cast isn't playing any better than it was before the trade.

Alot of teams step up their play in the playoffs so no one is a lock to do anything.

I dont see Philly making it out of the first round though. They arent beating any team 4 out of 7 times.

bulls are going to the finals. rose is going to win MVP.

noah/boozer would absolutely kill us on the glass.

remember we lost to the cavs a few nights ago. lets not get too excited.

Not necessarily. We need to get their guys in foul trouble to beat them. I still think the Bulls are pretenders.

Jrue can shut down anyone in much the same way that Rondo does. Iggy. Thaddeus Young. I think they're going to give some team, likely the Bulls, a lot of issues with their athleticism and Brand can handle himself on the boards. They beat Chicago last time they played as well.

i'm not going to debate whether jrue holliday can shut down derrick rose. last time they played (the 6ers won) rose had 27/9 albeit he didn't shoot well from the field. bulls also didn't have noah.

i like the way philly is playing too. they are a solid group of young players and super athletic.

LOL i just think this thread is 2 months premature. bulls with thibodeau are playing really great D. deng is having his best year. rose is on another level (did you catch the TNT game last week v. heat, dude was unstoppable). the noah/boozer pairing may be the toughest frontcourt in the east.

anubis, the flip side of your argument is --- if amare or melo get in foul trouble, the knicks are toast.

I could see them going to the ECF. Hard for me to say right now if they are good enough for the finals. Depends on how the Heat finish the regular season.

Boston is going to the Finals. The 7 and 8 seeds will not make it out of the 1st round. Everything in between is a toss up. It'll be interesting to see how the Knicks play against ORL tomorrow. We already know we can compete with Miami and Chicago. We have a shot to make some serious noise in the playoffs this year. I'm very excited about the future. Short term AND long term.

Bulls are a juggernaut in their own right. My point for the post is really that suddenly you have two very live seeds at the bottom of the Eastern conference. I would imagine that doesn't make fans in Chicago and Miami very comfortable.

Can't confirm this but 'hearsay' has the Heat 1-10 against teams over .500

they're 1-7 against the top 7 teams. and 14-15 against teams over .500. and 29-2 against teams under .500.

i think the knicks can beat them in the first round... maybe... it would be a 7 game classic series.

Chicago is in a different league than Miami. Not many teams have an answer for Noah. He's an absolute beast. Chicago is definitely advancing.

Miami - I can see Miami faltering right now because they tend to lose close games and have not figured that out yet, for whatever reason. They are also very light upfront. They actually share some of the same flaws the Knicks have with the lack of frontcourt depth.

Rose is not the answer.

If the starphucked Heat can't make it out, what hope do the Knicks ever have of winning anything?

They'll probably be going head to head, so one of them has to lose. Knicks have three clutch scorers. Miami has one. Certainly possible that we could take them down no?

It's possible. But Wade and Lebron are not clutch? I think they are, why do you say they are not?

i like your optimism but come playoff time, the lack of D and rebounding isn't going to take us very far. but i hope i'm proven wrong.

I like optimism too, but folks, really, it was just one game. I would think the Cleveland loss would have tempered any wild-eyed opinions like these...

Let's roll to 10 games or so before we start throwing a 300 million dollar team under the bus... And don't get me wrong, I hate Miami almost as much as I hate Pat Riley for leaving...
