Frank Isola is reporting that Jeffries plans to sign with the Knicks. It now makes sense why Walsh did not move forward with signing Earl Barron. They plan to sign Jeffries and put him back as our starting center. Jeffries will definitely help on defense is providing a guy that is great at rotating and keeping his man in front of him. But I personally would rather Barron. While Barron is not the defensive player that Jeffries is, Barron can at least hit an open shot. Unless Jeffries' offense improved while he was in Houston, he is really going to force us to play 4 on 5 on offense.

Not sure if Jeffries is the reason for the Barron delay.

There are a bunch of guys who are or will be waived that the team is considering, Troy Murphy being one of them.

Gotta wait for the full shakeout before signing a dude like Barron.

Jeffries shot .323 from three last time he was in blue and orange.

If he can do that, we really don't need much more from him on offense.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I agree. They probably were not waiting just for Jeffries. They likely wanted to see who else is available before committing to Barron. But it looks like they will sign Jeffries over Barron.

Anyone for Mike Bibby? Saw Miami was looking to sign him.

But at this point, if you are a vet player, you have to think twice about being able to ride the coat tails of the three amigos to the finals as Miami has established a firm record this year of not being able to beat over 500 teams.

I really think it is a choice between Boston, Miami, and New York for these waiver wire pickups. Of those three, I think teams would love to play for NY because so many roles are up in the air and there is a good chance a vet could get significant minutes. Miami is probably second because they have the same issue and no state tax in Florida. Boston is also a preferred destination b/c they are preety much a lock for ECF.

I can't help it ...I just cringed every time he launched from the corner. Love the energy and his defense.

Anyone signing in Miami will be signing for the pro-rated vet's minimum.

State tax will not be an issue.

This Jeffries thing is like a recurring nightmare. I'm going to need therapy if we sign him again.

Our defense (while not exception) got even worse when he was traded. People forget he can guard multiple position and has even done a good job on speedy pg's like Rondo.

The guy is a better rebounder than advertised and often came up with big offensive rebounds.

The guy has no offense but he's better (defensively) than everyone on the team except TDDWTDD

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Jeffries is OK... I just don't think he has the upside you would get from some of the other guys. Between playing Balkman and Williams as SSOL centers, I don't know how much more Jeffries gives you.

Earl Barron is a mystery. After what he did with us last year nobody wants to sign him? There's got to be some issues there.

Powe is a wildcard and you'd think he's not playing up to his Celtics standards or the Cavs would be playing him.

Sims has been rocking the D-League forever... why doesn't he get brought up by someone?

I guess grabbing Jeffries and taking a flier on one of the others is probably the way to go.

Murphy should come here, but I get the impression he's going to the Heat or Celts.

Since Isola Only speculates. (He gives no reasons why nor does he provide any quotes) The Answer Man Steps In

Isola: "The most likely candidate is former lottery pick Shelden Williams, who came over from Denver in the Carmelo Anthony trade. Renaldo Balkman - another piece in the Anthony deal - is the second most likely candidate to be released. Kelenna Azubuike, who is recovering from a knee injury and hasn't played all season, is another candidate to be released as are Roger Mason Jr., and Corey Brewer."

In Order Of Diappearance

Shelden Williams, last seen epoxy'd to the bench, was checking his Priceline account after practice for vacation cruises.

Roger Mason Jr., has not hit a shot since he left San Antonio. he will not be missed.

Kelenna Azubuike, hasn't played all season. It's March dude. Time to shut it down.

Renaldo Balkman, another piece in the Anthony deal, cannot shoot a lick. Bill Walker can... and had seven rebounds.

Corey Brewer, although he can jump, has zero offense to speak of. However he is a yoot and has a great smile. Eat your vegetables.

Stop hating on Shelden because he married your cousin. He's a pimp.

Also, wake up and smell the coffee. Brewer is gone.

Wow, Barron is supposedly signing with the Bucks because we're signing Jeffries. Can't we sign both?

Mason and Azubuike won't accept buyouts. You believe that?

Why not simply CUT THEM!!!!

Pay them the rest of their contract and waive them. Can't be that complicated!
