Thread after thread about how MDA doesn't care about defense and Amar'e and Melo play no defense. MDa does care about defense. Amar'e and Melo play D as well. If you listen to both Melo and STAT they constantly say that scoring is not a problem but if they can't stop anyone they will not win. The Knicks are still a few pieces away from being title contenders and it won't happen this year.

I think many are forgetting that we won a total of 29 games last year and haven't had a winning season in 9 years. Adding Melo is a step in the right direction and they need some time to get it together. 1 practice is not going to do it. Let's at least wait until they have 10-12 games under their belts before the doomsday threads begin again.

Also, c'mon enough with who we're going to sign, we have no cap space, blah, blah, blah. We have no idea who will be brought in, who the Knicks can get in the draft and what moves will be made over the summer. This team is not the finished product, not by a long shot.

We're supposed to be ultimate knicks fans not ultimate knicks whiners. Stop complaining about what should have, could have been done and get behind our boys in blue and orange.

LET'S GO KNICKS AND BRING ON THE HEAT!!!!!!!!

I said it b4 and I will say it again...the freaking Heat had all summer and a long preseason to get on the same page, plus it took almost 20 games into the year for them to hit their groove. Honestly, I dont think the Knicks will have enough time to get it done this year. They will get better and maybe advance to round 2 but lets look towards next year if you want to see how these guys will be together.

Has any player in the history of the game come out and siad defense wasn't important? If Mike cares about D, it must be on NBA Live or something because it defeinelty doesn't apply to his job with the Knicks. It's not ultimate whining, it's that he has got to go. The sooner the faster we can work at building a culture that can bring about a championship. I've waited for 2+ years for any mprovement on rebounding and defense, I don't think 10-12 games will make a difference, but let's revisit this then. And if things haven't changed what is your stance then? Is it 10-12 games more?

Agree that the team is set up to win big in the playoffs if we can add a few more pieces. With that said, its hard to make the case that the coach emphasizes defense when his team is second to last in defense this year as towards the bottom last year.

How many times do we see teams near the bottom of the league in scoring and feild goal % play us and put up season highs in pts? If Mike really cared about defense, he wouldn't play his guys out of position so much. When he puts Melo at the 4 and Amare at the 5 he's thinking about the offensive advantages we might have and seems to be ignoring the defensive disadvantages he puts his teams in.

And dont tell me Malo and Amare cant be a part of a good defensive team. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were never confused with being defensive players until Thibbs got a hold of them in Boston and put in an effective defensive system. Now Pierce and Allen are apart of the best defensive unit in the league.

Well if you were watching the games you would have seem improvements in rebounding and defense.

Before the trade they held 2 opponents to under 100 points! They now have to start over again in terms of developing defensive chemistry. It's not an automatic thing. You can't be above .500 and never play D. What they have been is inconsistent.

My point is that they played good D. Not great, but for this team that's good D and more than enough to win games with this offense. You have to be realistic. Our 2 best players aren't good defenders, so how great can we be on D? We have to get to the point where the D and rebounding is good enough to win games with our strength, which is offense.

The Knicks are not going to be a defensive force. They have to play good defense in spurts and they'll be fine. MDA is a good coach. Many forget that when the Suns went to the Western Conference finals they didn't have Joe Johnson. If he was healthy it may have been a different story. Things will change in 10-12 games. It's not as easy as throwing talent on the floor and having them instantly win. It's going to take time and I'm more than willing to see it through. Watch the Knicks get a big who can rebound and defend and you'll see the tune change.

Often times MDA has to plays guys out of position because we're thin. Heck, is Shawn Williams is not a Center yet MDA has to play him there for the time being. Turiaf is at best a PF not even close to a Center but he's who we have and what we need to roll with. I have faith in DW and MDA to get this team to where it needs to be.

What FG % did the Cavs shoot? 42% and 28%! It's not like we just let them shoot. The big problem was rebounding. We had a horrible offensive 3rd qtr and we didn't get enough stops in the 4th qtr nor enough rebounds period. Among other things i'm pretty sure they're gonna focus on these points and get better.

Here's the thing though, when you blow up a team and trade away half your starting line up, you shouldn't have to wait for your resulting product to "get better". Melo and Amar'e, with all their supposed greatness, should be rolling over teams like the Cavs already.

Storm on the horizon, another lost decade.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Totally agree. That was an awfully poor showing and if not for Chauncey creating all of those three point play opportunities and getting the Cavs the into the penalty the game would not have been close at all. I don't like that a guy like Jamison can just out fox Melo and get him to foul like that when he already was in foul trouble and the team was in the penalty. I like the Nuggets side of this trade a lot better right now. I hope something happens to change my mind soon.

I know MDA doesnt care about defense because vmart says so 8x a day so it must be true.

Surround Melo/stat with guys who defend, shoot and are big and athletic. Hey... thats Mosgov, Chandler, Felton and Gallo

JJskinny will help. Earl Barron would be GREAT. His defense isnt anything special but he camps out around the paint and grabs every free board and can knock down the open J

A Earl/Amare/Melo/Fields/Billps starting lineup w/ Douglas, Turiaf, Williams and JJskinny is a solid rotation for what we have to work with this year.

Yeah just like the Heat were rolling over teams during their first 15 games right? The Cavs beat the Lakers as well and at the end of the day it's a pro team playing a pro team. How about watching more than 2 games before deciding that the next decade is lost?

It's inane how you keep bringing up 2 games out of a season as evidence of defensive progress. It's quite sad.

I would love to sign Barron and Troy Murphy. Barron hasn't played in a while..how was he doing last time he was active?

Come on! If you really believe that then I can't understand why you miss the players we had. The players we had struggled early, yet with time became a team and played solid, not spectacular. This team has been together for two games and one practice. This is still a team sport and the new players are adjusting to the new team and the system. This system isn't played everywhere, so the new Knicks players will have a period of adjustment.

Being bitter just because you didn't like the trade is silly. I can understand people worried because we are in the middle of a playoff run and if we keep losing we may miss them, but declaring doom before the team is given a real chance to mesh is silly.

If people liked the other players so much, they can find them in Denver. The Nuggets sure have forums to express all your unconditional love to them. But you will miss the start of something really big for NYK.

The Cavs have only won 11 games out of 58 this season. A superstar lineup should be able to handle a team trying to move beyond 10 wins. Amare didn't look good. Jamison played Melo like was a rookie. The team is already having to rely on Billups way too much. JJ Hickson looked like the best big in the league against the Knicks. I think there is reason for concern.
