i don't think I like this trade at all for Boston. what the heck were they thinking? unless it means Perkins isn't healthy and can't contribute at all this season?

Oh, I think Boston thought they were going to lose Perkins in free agency anyway; agent and ownership have been discussing contract and perhaps they were just not seeing eye-to-eye.

I guess. Maybe they think Green can be a sort of wing-stopper and guard the Bron/Bosh and Amare/Melo tandems of the East?

Still a weird move to me. I'm shocked.

If Perk is healthy - big if - OKC becomes one of the strongest teams in the West, IMHO

Seriously the more I think about this, the more it blows my mind.

HOW THE HELL DID THE CELTICS JUST TRADE KENDRICK PERKINS??!??!?

I mean, if you can't afford to re-sign him, that's fine... but heading into one of the last championship runs with an aging core... you trade your defensive anchor?! I don't get it.

Perk was a bit hurt the other day and I think his minutes have to be watched. OK is not really a contender this year so they get to try him out and perhaps work a deal for him. BOston only has lowball money for him.

They got a serviceable big and the Wing they really really need. He is young also.

I get the trade. ITs about the NOW!

So Nate lasted a year? I guess the fun and specialness gets under the skin after a while. They really needed a quality Wing.

Ah guess the Miracle Midget wasn't quite as great a player as he was made out to be. Heck they had to use KPer to dump his ass.

how the h do you give up Perkins when you are going for a championship??????? Ainge has done a great job and yes they need some younger players but I think you roll with Perkins for the last 28

Perkins when healthy is just about the best lane clogger in the league. J oneal is hurt shaq is only good for 15--what were they doing here?????

i think it was a great trade for both teams, especially for the thunder. I can see why the celtics did the trade. They have Big Baby, Shaq, JO, Kristic, and possibly Rasheed Wallace back. Green gives them a great 6th man and young legs to fill in for the future. He can hit the 3, play defense, and play his role on the celtics.

Thunder finally adds a true defensive veteran big man, to go with Nazr, and Ibaka to prepare themselves for the playoffs.

They both gained more depth and talents. When Ray Allen retires, Pierce and can play SG and Green can play SF. Bodies are gained for Thunder so they can match up better with Lakers and Dallas. Unfortunately this hurts us because its lowers our chances to gain a Center with the mid level exemption if it still here in the summer.

Yeah makes no sense.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Big Baby isn't exactly a slouch. But I love Kendrick Perkins and I can't figure this out either.

Why is everyone shocked about Perkins? He's not the second coming of Mutumbo.

His body is of use, but I guess they're fine going with Shaq and Jermaine until this specific Celtics era is over.

I have to disagree - Celtics were set to beat the Lakers last June until Perkins went down.

Every time I remember this trade has happened today, it's mind boggling. I can't understand.

Unless they think his knee is worse than it is... Why not hold on to him and do a sign and trade over the summer?

This move is astounding and seems really bad. Every report I've read is that the Celtics vets are pissed off about this trade. I can't fathom why they did it.

the Celtics were not set to beat LA. they were set to deal with injuries like all other teams do, and they lost.

look, i think the Lakers were the better team, but i know that that series turned when Perkins suffered an excruciating season ending injury. it just did. bynum was hobbled as well, but perkins going down meant the lakers could play small more often and get away with it.

also, if you think they're getting by Orlando without Perkins, i disagree.

Boston isn't losing to Orlando simply because they lost Perk lol. I understand his value ad a player, don't get me wrong. And the Celtics did trade big for small, which isn't always ideal. However, the big 3 and Rondo are still very much intact along with their other bodies. This trade is also beneficial for the future.
