It is a serious problem that must be addressed before the deadline. Or we can at least hope to sign a guy after it. A good player, though. Not just any scrub.

My suggestion: Jeff Foster - expiring deal, can rebound and play defense, respected veteran, can be had for not too much I'd imagine

D'Antoni needs to open up his rotation. I don't care if you have an entire all-star starting lineup, you need to play more than 8 guys. It is detrimental to the team. You have a bench, Mike, USE IT.

I like Foster. I think Shelden needs to be played. He put up some big numbers when K-Mart and Anderson were out for Denver. The Knicks are very small. Shelden is already there. Also, there are some guys in the d-league that have size, rebound and are still very young. I would love for the Knicks to take on Sean Williams.

Sign Troy friggin Murphy. Guy has averaged 10-11 rebounds per game a few times. And he can shoot the 3 ball. If D'Antoni is gonna have Shawne Williams play center for 1/4 of the game, than you might as well get Murphy.

I heard that GS was trying to trade Murphy before the deadline if possible and if they couldn't they might waive him. Did they waive him?

I agree.

Even though I want a defensive center I'll settle for Murphy because rebounding is a huge need.

10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% agreed. He rebounds and won't clog the middle on offense. I'm not a huge Okur fan but I'd see if the Jazz want to dump him. He was already on the bench and the just got Favors

Murphy is from Morristown- obv. things didn't work out in Jersey, but I'm hoping he'll want to stay close to home and play for NYK. I think he has the potential to get the most minutes here and would fit best in this offense. Gonna be hard to beat out Miami, Boston etc. for him, but I think this is a good opportunity for him.

They have Favors, Milsap and Jefferson so not a lot of room for Okur to play. He's got a back injury though. Don't know when he's due back at this point.

Troy Murphy would be perfect for the team as constructed

PG Billups
SG Fields
SG Anthony
PF Stoudamire
C Murphy

Again not the greatest defensively, especially with the Knicks. But we'd actually have a good rebounding team and the ability to score from anywhere in all 5 positions.

I hate this. Where'd all our blocks go?!

This isn't a new problem. We've known the team isn't very good at rebounding and the Carmelo trade hasn't changed that. Getting a piece like that probably isn't going to happen next year, but a defender/rebounder that can play next to Amar'e and a backup for Chauncey are probably priorities #1 and #2 for either before the deadline or this off-season.

As far as D'Antoni opening up his rotation goes, I wouldn't count on it until they get some more depth.

D'Antoni can have the 6th men award winners of the last 5 years on his bench and he will only play 8 guys.

Well unless you want to start Turiaf, you're going to have to give to get(If we were even able to get Murphy). I don't think there's anyone out there to sign that can give you alot of blocks. I would trade blocks for good rebounding everyday of the week. With Stat here we probably will be an average/slighly below average shot blocing team.

Carmelo is a help on the boards and Shelden Williams will be if MDA decides to play him. I'm always for more rebounding, but I'm not as concerned as I was before the trade.

i mentioned this point in another thread - i think it would give us the leg up on the rest of the teams. his 3pt shooting and defensive rebounding would certainly be helpful. he's almost the perfect 5 for mike's system...

Foster is a great option. He is limited offensively but fills a couple needs for us and still has reasonable enough athletic ability to keep up in this offense.

The best rebounder that is available(for free) is jeff Adrien--hes like taking a first round pick. 6-7 250 with a 7-3 wingspan chisled tough and quick. avg 20-12-2 in the D league. he can easily fit in here--hes not scared to shoot like turiaf either and hes got a nice mid range jumpshot.
We need to add some toughness inside. Even if we get Murphy somehow--we still need another guy who can back up Amare.

Sorry, 6'7 guy is not a center. Don't care about his wingspan.

Where do you play him though? He is too short for center. You want him to play PF alongside Amare as C? I would rather have the Barron.
