I don't know if this is just Denver making it up, but I called this a while back Lakers will make a play for Melo eventually.

as much as i like bynum and think he's a talent i can't see denver trading a true superstar for an injury-prone center with a hefty contract.

Me either, but that Lakers team has been known to get sweetheart deals throughout their history. You know if Denver makes the deal with the Lakers even without the extension he will resign with the Lakers that is a given.

Bynum is hurt more than Chandler and the Lakers draft picks are equivalent to second rounders with Melo, Kobe, Pau and Odom. Besides who is Denver gonna want? Crazy Ron? Shannon Brown? Luke Walton? Come on now.

We can not only trump and straight up trade they can do with the Lakers(besides including one of their big 4) but trading Melo in the conference on a team that will kick their ass every year, 5 times a year or whatever...that is PR suicide for this management team.

What about Odom and Bynum? I was just talking about this with co-worker. But the injury-prone center aspect was our big killer. They already Kenyon, why add another bloated contract for a guy that barely spends any time on the floor (outside of writhing in pain).

Denver still needs players. After this year, Melo and JR Smith will probably be gone, leaving them with Harrington and Afflalo (and rookie Gary Forbes) at SG/SF. If they don't care to re-up Chandler, they can move him in a separate deal. In fact, I am 99% certain DW is doing his homework on Chandler and already informing Denver what they can get for him (Memphis is hot and heavy for Chandler so they don't have to resign ZBo).

Why would Denver want Odom? He is to old to re build around, has a longer contract, is a proven non leader as a vet, and isn't even a guy who is a top 3 option on his team.

Odom is the perfect 6th man complimentary player for teams like the Lakers, Spurs, Celts. Denver is an absolute non fit. The perfect team he shouldn't be on.

There is no way Melo ends up on the Lakers. First of all, Denver would be on the hook for Bynums contract. If he wasn't always injured, this might not be a bad thing. More importantly, however, if Denver traded Melo to the Lakers how would that go over with the fan base? They oculdn't even pretend that they were still trying to compete this year. They'd be trading Melo within the conference to a rival. A rival they might see in the Playoffs.

This would be very dumb. And I don't think they're that dumb.

Plenty of teams can use Bynum. Hell the Knicks could use Bynum.

Denver probably doesnt want to keep Bynum. Thing is Bynum is under contract for a few more years so they can trade him and get some assets.

I'd trade Chandler and Randolph for Bynum. Even for half a season he would solidify our front court.

The only team that I always feared would swoop in & nab Melo was the Lakers.

The Lakers are trying to become a video game team like Miami.

Unfortunately Dolan probably is. This while Isiah is quoting lines to Jimmy from his book about how to negotiate with yourself.

Lakers Shoot Down Bynum For Anthony Trade Report
Feb 08, 2011 13:20 PM EST

A report from ESPN on Tuesday indicated that the Lakers and Nuggets were holding preliminary discussions about a trade involving Carmelo Anthony and Andrew Bynum.

"What's out there is inaccurate," said a Lakers representative familiar with the negotiations.

Denver is also in discussions with the Knicks, the team Anthony is reportedly set on playing for by the 11-12 season.
