argh. i just finished reading this article and was about to post it here.


god, this reinforces my of hate dolan. he doesn't deserve to own the knicks. he inherited them. he's such a fool and the knicks will be stuck in mediocrity for all-time with him running the show.

The good news for Knicks fans: Thomas is sure Dolan doesn’t want him to return to run the Knicks.

I was able to exhale a little after that.

That article just makes you realize what a great guy Walsh is. Walsh has been able to hide and prevent Dolan from being dysfunctional in his ownership. I think the Wes/Warkentein/Houston connection is pretty troubling. Thanks for posting the article and pray for Donnie's health.

He talks to Isiah and trusts his opinion on basketball matter after he destroyed the team. That alone tells me he's an idiot.

If Walsh leaves after restoring respect to the franchise then I am done with the team. I have come too far to follow a team that is not run like an NBA franchise by Dolan but rather his own personal toy. A toy that he does whatever he wants with, regardless of the results.

He doesn't like Walsh because he wont kiss his ass and be a yes man. The next GM will be that, especially Allan Houston. Houston is going to be the ultimate yes man and probably have to deal with Isiah more often than Walsh does.

I absolutely agree Walsh needs to be brought back. He's earned his stay here 10 fold, and deserves to go out on his terms.

The silver lining is that it sounds like Warkentien, who has the Donnie approval, would be the replacement. May still be a step down, but it's capable hands nonetheless, not the rumors of another run with Zeke.

No one's under the impression Dolan is anywhere near a competent basketball (or business) mind. My life is much happier when I can go without reading his name.

The article implied that Walsh respected Warkentien but had had the opportunity to hire him in the past but passed. It implied that Warkentien may have been hired by someone over Walsh's head because of his association with World Wide Wes. I think that is pretty troubling. I hope Walsh's tenure lasts at least 5 more years.

i wish there was some way stern could completely remove dolan from having any decision making power involving the knicks. the knicks are seriously a FLAGSHIP franchise for the NBA. look up the highest rated ESPN NBA games on TV of all-time - they are knicks games over the last few years. when the knicks do well, the NBA does well.

stern should get do everything in his power to get dolan away from any day-to-day contact with the team.

I agree. I always believed that when Stern pushed Dolan to hire a new Gm the reason Dolan chose Walsh was because he knew Walsh had a positive relationship with Isiah. I think Walsh is a stand up guy and he has had to be the man in the middle with Dolan and Isiah. I think what is really scary is that Dolan is a guy who seems like he will go to all lengths to do what you tell him he cannot do. Walsh is vanilla. He just tries to make his team better. He is not trying to be seen as a draft guru, a powerful exec who hires and fires hof coaches, or the team leader on a rudderless ship. He isn't what Dolan seems to want. A guy that is charismatic,controversial and makes the owner feel like he is also seems to be what Dolan wants. This is scary for Knick fans.

I agree with this post.. honestly, I would love for dolan to be suspened from basketball for 10 years...

James Dolan is one of the worst owners in sports. His only competition in the NBA is Donald Sterling.

I think it all goes back to Isiah who was convicted of sexual harrassment, on tape saying racist and chauvinistic remarks and calling out fans. Dolan chose to support Isiah through all of this instead of condemning him. When you look at what happened to Marge Schott in '92 for saying extremely stupid, racist comments it seems like Dolan should be held accountable for at least some of the things that happened while Isiah was running things for him.

I have to tell you'all, I didn't believe the entire article.

Walsh has favored hiring the likes of Warkentien for about 2 years now and is a close friend. Warkentien says he considers Donnie Walsh a mentor... and yet we are to believe that Dolan and company would hire Warkentien behind Donnie's back and at a level higher than Walsh? Really. All because his representation is CAA (same dudes as LeBron and company work with).

To me this article speaks of the author trying to get hits to his article.

I'm not even going to read this article. I'm going to choose to disbelieve it. For the simple fact that no one can be so moronic as to choose a guy that led your franchise to years of losing at an expensive rate over someone who remolded them into winners at a much cheaper one.
There's only one number that little Jimmy has to wrap his head around: the profit numbers. And I guarantee they're better under Walsh.

And if I'm wrong, well, I'd rather not get upset about it now. If the unmentionable event happens, I'm done. Simple.
