I've been clamoring for MDA to play Rony and/or Mosgov, but they really let me down tonight.
- Rony was terrible. Offensively he was a total zero, and even defensively, I hold him responsible for 2 of Barea's wide open drives to the hoop when he failed to switch on the pick.
- Mosgov, in all those minutes, was a non-factor. Minimal rebounds. Timmy when you're out there GRAB A FUCKIN REBOUND! You're bigger than everyone! I want to stick with him, but somebody's gotta tell him why he's out there.
- Gallo has completely changed his game. I hope those people saying he's a one-dimensional spot-up shooter have changed their tune, because he has really expanded his ability to drive the ball to hoop with authority. I was very impressed. And it wasn't just once, he kept coming, and Dallas couldn't really stop it. I don't know why they didn't call that play more often.
- Shawne Williams was about the only guy playing defense tonight. The defense was atrocious. If I saw Barea get to the hoop with not a single defender in the paint one more time, I was going to puke all over MSG.

This team is way better than last year, but we're really lacking some toughness.

I think Gallo was fair.
TD, I'm not sure. I wasn't happy in general with our perimeter defense. Too many Dallas guards getting freebies to the rim. Can't say for sure who was to blame, but as a whole the guards did not defend well.
The other thing that drove me mad was how many times Dirk was shooting a midrange shot over Felton. IDK, man, I think maybe when we play these teams with 7 footer that can shoot the lights out, we need to back off the zone D, and play man to man. They torch us every time.

The defensive effort stunk tonight. This team doesn't show any effort at all to get around screens. They don't communicate either. It's so easy f other teams. Felton is one of the worst at this. Turiaf as well. That coupled with not being able to rebound kills us.

Also, why doesn't D'Antoni call a timeout during that big run in the 3rd? Drives me nuts. Carmello wouldn't have been any help tonight with that kind of defense.

That 3rd quarter was really painful to watch. IDK, but it felt like we only scored 4-6 points in the first 8 mins of the quarter.

I must not have been watching the same game as Mike, because it wasn't running that was the problem.

BTW, I'm not sure if you folks caught this at home. A really funny moment. I was cracking up.

Gallo was getting into the paint and drawing fouls at will. Seemed like he could have had 40-50 points just doing that.

Not sure why they didn't go to it more. Nothing else was working the second half

I have to apologize for ever doubting Gallo. He's really tearing it up. He made a lot of bonehead plays last year but he's a much smarter and more effecient player this year and now he's playing like an all star. Good thing Denver isn't interested in Gallo!

I would still like to see his outside shot be more consistent.

I think he may have had two airballs last night. Very strange, and I still wonder about the health of his arm, and whether or not it accounts for his inconsistency.

The ironic thing is that right now I feel much more comfortable having him go to the basket than taking long jump shots.

I'd like to see him take some shots a 1' INSIDE the line every now and then, since many of his 3s seem to hit the front rim.

If Gallo got as many touches as Amare, he could probably be putting up 25-30 a night also. Them two need to work the 2 man game a little more and Ray has to take a backseat more often the way they are both playing.

I still say the best rebounder the Knicks have is AR. The guy needs more run. Amre is a piss poor rebounder for a PF. AR is by far the most skilled big the Knicks have after Amare. Coach is a F up though stubborn as they come.

Good stuff Panos.

Does anyone else think it was a mistake for Amare to play this game?

I know he is a warrior and all and it's a good teaching point for the young guys to see their captain play through injury, but with back-to-back Philly games, 2 more days off would have probably been better for long run.

I think there was one play in the 4th where Gallo used an Amare screen to take it (he drove by him and then made a quick cut to the hoop)to the basket and dunk. Seemed like it was a play that was decided upon in the timeout just prior to the drive.

Gallo may just end up being a better P&R partner with Amare than Felton, and with the option of taking it to the basket for a basket or foul, dishing to a cutting Amare, or kicking it outside to a shooter in the corner whose man collapses as Gallo drives, a lot of good can come out of such plays.
