Jordan isn't getting traded. He is Blake's guy. The Dalembert Hawes trade did not work out for either team. Dalembert is available and probably at a bargain price.

I keep hearing that Jordan is Griffen's friend and they have a strong bond but as long as Sterling owns that
team I say Jordan is more available then we think.

That being said I agree we need a big man but we need to give back at least 7 million in contracts back to
Fit Dal under cap.

7 million means at the min Buki and Chandler so I say no thanks!!

Another guy that might end up being available is Robin Lopez who already played with Amare. Gortat is having a big impact in Phoenix. If Lopez is available I think Donnie has to inquire. There aren't many bigs from the 08 draft that I wouldn't want on the Knicks.

Dalembert expires after this season according to Hoopshype. He shouldn't affect our cap.

Dalembert has a $12.2 mil expiring contract. We would need to include Curry's $11.28 contract + players and/or picks so we balance salary. 80% is $9.76 mil minimum. We can't make the trade now as we need Eddy, etc for a possible Melo trade. If at the deadline, Denver makes it clear that they aren't going to trade Melo, then I would trade Curry + Chandler for Dalembert if we had an agreement with Dalembert that he would sign with us after the season for a more reasonable contract (like $7-8 mil/year for 2-3 years.)

I look at it this way--we need another quality big man. It could be the difference in being a team that not only makes the playoffs but can seriously compete with anyone and actually NOT making the playoffs all together. I maintain its not the points but the defense--also another quality big means better balance of inside outside offense.

I agree that we do need another bigman. Hopefully Timo steps up to the point where he can give us minutes and give STAT a breather. That said, Dalembert isn't going to instantly transform us into a title contender. He's not going to bring us to the level needed to compete with Orlando, Chicago, Miami and Boston. There's no need to get him now. We can look at Dalembert as an option during free agency if Melo falls through.

That would be a lot to give up. Chandler is a better player Dalembert even though Dalembert fills a need we have better than Chandler does. I'd at least want a protected 1st round pick (it could be top 18 or so protected). Alternatively, I'd explore a package centering around Curry and Chandler for Iggy and Dalembert. I'm not sure that gives us a good enough core to win a championship but if we are in the win-now mode, it at least helps us significantly.

I think a quality big man would help us compete seriously with any team-winning a7 game series might be a different story but all I ask is to be put in position to 1. make the playoffs 2. Have the ability to seriously compete. Im not interested to go into the playoffs if we have no chance to compete--then you are better off in the lottery. Its important as well to make sure Wilson's leg is Ok --obviously you dont go from being a guy putting up 17-7 to all of a sudden being a terrible player. He always has a brace on that lower leg---if he needs extended rest--give him the rest.

I dont see any team giving up a 1 for dalemnbart. We have the ability to give them a good cash deal with a 2nd rounder--thats as high as I would go.

You are right - Chandler is too much to give up. I was thinking salary for next year. Dalembert is on Sac now so getting Iggy with him can't happen.

Re: Dalembert - other contending teams could go after him by offering young player(s), an expiring and a pick. We are not in the drivers seat with this like we are with Melo who only wants to play here. If we can pick Dalembert up at a reasonable price, that would immediately help us.

Sam Dalembert is very inconsistent and frustrating to watch at times with his lack of motor but he'd be worth the MLE if that still exists in the new cba.

WHAT?! Sam Dalembert is a BACKUP on a terrible team. He's not worth Wilson Chandler of $8M. He's a MLE at best. He's actually having a very mediocre year (5.3 ppg on 46% shooting, 6.2 rpg and 1.6 bpg in 20 mpg).

For example 9man

C -Gortat
F Amare
F-Gallo
G-Fields
G-Felton
C-Turiaf
F Williams
G Chandler
G Douglas

that is a very good team.-we need a quality C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My guess is that any deal for Gortat would have to include the likes of Warrick coming this way.

I think Gortat is loved in Phoenix already for his traditional big man skills. I think they would trade Lopez first but I also think they are starting to realize how effective playing with a traditional big can be.
