Chandler To Hire Stoudemire's Agent
Jan 27, 2011 13:44 PM EST

Sources say Wilson Chandler is "leaning toward" hiring Amar'e Stoudemire's agent, Happy Walters, to represent him.

Chandler parted ways with former agent Chris Luchey last week.

The same source contends that Chandler is upset over persistent reports that he will be part of a potential deal for Carmelo Anthony.

"He's really worried that he's going to get traded," the source added. "He doesn't want to leave New York. And he doesn't want to be in Denver."

Walters, via a text message, has denied that he is in line to represent Chandler, but admitted he is scheduled to meet with the forward.

it would be tough.. I would really feel for him. He worked hard through some really crappy years like Lee did. He deserves to get paid. I do hope its here, but like Lee someone is going to be casualty if Melo comes here.

I think its a coin flip as to whether we would keep Gallo or Chandler.

How many dudes get you 17/5/1.5 per night with his efficiency and play defense and don't complain?

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Its for sure Gallo, he is under contract one more year and with Melo Gallo will be a perfect #4 option as the 3 point man wide open all game

at 23 years old, getting better, good character...

I do think Gallo/Chander can coexist. I also have no problem resigning Chandler even if its clear he doesnt have a starting spot. Dude can give you 30+ minutes off the bench and play some 3, 4 and 2 as well.

I appreciate Chandler and his game, but him whining publicly or letting it leak makes me lose a touch of respect and sympathy. Deal with it, millionaire. Same with Gallo, get over it. I agree about it being just about a coin flip from a basketball pt. of view re: which one to trade. Contracts may dictate something else. Chandler could stay here b/c the other team wants Gallo's contract more. But I want NY Knicks players going about the business of playing good basketball with a determined, hard-nosed approach, and not talk about being upset when their name comes up in trade talks.

what did he let leak? That he doesnt want to get traded to Denver and wants to stay in NY? People seem to think that money makes everything better. You just got forced to move from your home away from your friends and support network but hey your rich so it doesnt matter. These guys are people just like us and would be playing pro hoops for $80k if thats what the market dictated. I never understood this thinking...

yea, I agree, and I like chandler, and the fact that he wants to be here says a lot... I would pay chandler to come off the bench for 30mpg, but how much? if he wants to really get paid, he is going to have to leave, but 6-7 mil for chandler to be a 6th man is not bad at all..

i understand these guys are fallible just like anybody else but the majority of players in the league accept this(trades) and not let it effect their game. i would have reservations about signing this kid for a fat extended contract. the last thing i'd want is an expensive head-case of a player.

you gotta be kidding me... the Nets players werent affected by the trade talk? You show me a young player on the trading block and I will so you a guy who's game looks like he's distracted. You this in every sport.. some do better than others but its always a factor, especially with younger players. 23 years old... people seem to think a big paycheck endows one with great maturity.

Tell me again what Chandler's done wrong again? Lets recap: worked really hard, does whatever he's told to and excells... Will, play SG. OK (shoots 50%). Will, come off the bench. OK (looks like early 6th man of year). Will play out of position at PF. OK (Knicks go on best winning streak of year). During his first 4 years on a sh!t team dude just plays hard and gets better. Now he's got issues because he wants to be paid like his peers and stay with the team that drafted him.

Wow

Don't think that Amare has not been talking to Chandler. If Amare wants Chandler around then Chandler stays. Amare has pull. Don't you think?

tell you one thing about Walsh that makes him a great GM. He looks to his coaches AND players for feedback. He's asked veteran players like Reggie Miller what they think about trades and players before he makes them. He's VERY conscience of chemisty and fitting pieces together. If Amare is in Walsh's ear that Chandler is the goods and going to keep getting better you better know Walsh is listening.

c'mon man. u got some demanding standards there don't you think? you got no room at all for someone to be human, even a little bit? especially someone who's been nothing but a positive presence since the day he's arrived (we all need a little something to unwind with every now and then, don't we? )
