The Nuggets are in such bad position it's funny. Even if they find other teams (that aren't the Knicks) to deal with them, it starts the whole "Does Melo want to re-sign with us?" fiasco again. They really have to hope he has a change of heart and just re-signs with them, otherwise, they look kinda beat

Do you think a billionaire owner like kroenke is going to bend into pressure of any kind for anyone on any team? It sounded like they kept asking NJ to up its ante. Maybe they are saying lets just take this to the collective bargaining table where maybe we can get the owners to move towards a franchise player tag like the nFL does. Or if Denver starts playing well that 25mm per starts looking better to melo. what is their incentive to capitulate to a deal they are not interested in? If all else fails--they can probably s+t him for a deal similar to what they want 2 #1 picks.

why do u feel Melo would capitulate & agree to a S&T this offseason when he can simply sign w/whatever team he wants after the season's over? if the Nuggets refuse to deal w/the Knicks in good faith out of spite, then they're pretty much sending a message to Melo that they'll do whatever's in their power to prevent him from going to the team he wants to go to... at that point, what would motivate Melo to help the Nuggets get anything back in return from the team he inevitably joins up with?

um about 15 Million dollars. Remember his agent gets commission on each of those 15M he will lose if there is no S & T so Melo will have that angle in his ear at all times

this summer if Melo opts out he becomes an UFA... whoever he signs with his agents will get the commission on his next contract, whether that's with the Nuggets or another team... if he's made to wait til this summer there is nothing his agents stand to gain by working out a S&T for Melo rather than a straight signing.

agent and melo are worried about the lockout or none of this would be an issue right now. waiting til the summer could cost them millions and millions.
