nothing will get done until the Melo situation is taken care of, but i would have no problem extending both those guys after the dust settles

Of the two- I would make Williams my priority if I could only keep one of them. Walker is better with the ball, but Williams can play some D, rebound, and he can play both forward positions.

The Knicks are a pretty good fit for both of them.

I'd keep Williams depending on the deal. The only concern I have is how well he shoots with someone in his face. Most of the time as others have pointed out he is wide open. The playoffs should give us a better idea of what he's worth.

not for me. Both have to demonstrate defense and willingness to improve/change their respective games.

FYI, Knicks have no FA rights to Williams. If they want to resign him this summer, Knicks will need pure cap room, an exception (Bi-annual partial MLE), or a minimum contract.

Walker is another story - Knicks will have his full Bird Rights in 2012 and he'll only have a $1.8m cap hold.

This is true. But Williams was signed as a favor to he and agent, so I think he'll stick another year and try to gain the same rights as Walker... if he can.

the LLE or part of the MLE would be the way to sign him, i agree... dunno if those exceptions will be available in the next CBA yet tho

They've both played well, especially Williams, but I remain skeptical of their games. I honestly don't know exactly why. I just don't believe they are long-term rotation players on a championship team. I think they're both legitimate NBA players, but more like 9, 10 or 11 on the depth chart of a good team. I therefore wouldn't do anything for them that could affect my flexibility and ability to sign a legitimate rotation guy.

Only caveat to the above is if Shawne keeps shooting the way he's been, I reserve the right to reconsider, but I can't believe he will keep it up.

Williams plays zero defense. Money spot up shooter, but thats all he can do.

"Williams plays zero defense"

tj23 - what are you basing this comment on?

Do you have any signature defensive lapses or stats on Williams' matchups that you would care to share?

I think that Williams has some defensive sense and makes the effort to guard his man.

He is also a niche player, in my eyes- a guy who can give you instant offense in the right circumstances, and does not have to handle the ball too much to score his points.

15-20 MPG, with 5-8 shots/game- he can be a somewhat less flashy version of what Cazzie Russell was in a different era.

Walker bothers me. He's another guy that can be a great player on a losing team.

He comes in at 2 guard and makes a lot of positive plays, but he makes a lot of bad defensive plays and takes a lot of shots out of the offensive rhythm that lead to break outs for the opponent. He's the anti-Fields.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I'm not really big on Walker, but Williams is a perfect fit here. I think Azubuike would be better than Walker.

Funny how 2 months ago we wanted nothing to do with him, especially after his awful SL stint.

Now after a few good games were talking contract extension, thats why this league has a bunch of over paid players. That was becoming the norm, go on a little stretch , play real well in a playoff series, earns yourself a fat payday.

i don't think anyone was looking at extending SW to a fat extension... i was thinking more along the lines of the LLE, or part of the MLE, if those are even available to us in the next CBA.

i agree w/u... but Buike's gotta prove he can come back & be healthy for him to even be an option.
