They just showed the #s on TNT

With Dirk:
Record: 24-5
PPG: 99
FG%: 48

Without Dirk:
Record: 2-3
PPG: 88
FG%: 43

I know it's a small sample of games but that difference is huge

I know stats dont tell the whole story but these stats tell a different story.

Dirk is a competitor. The Mavs just never had the right formular.

He's been to the finals more times than Amare. And it's not like he had a better supporting cast than Amare had.

yeah dirk's a competitor. that's why when his #1 seed mavs were down 3-1 to the #8 warriors he issued statements about "well we just can’t deal with them." remember that one? And of course behind that show of grit, the mavs did succumb to the huge upset.

or when up 2-0 and with a big lead in game 3 he then led to mavs to an 0-4 collapse? remember that one too?

dirk and the mavs were pathetic in the finals.

Eh, I wouldn't make much out of any one series even if it's human nature to want to. His overall playoff averages of 26 PPG an 11 RPG over ninety-seven games are actually better than Amare's averages in what many are calling an MVP season this year.

they still GOT to the finals. i remember a 50 point game in the playoffs too. its a team game, those mavs teams on a whole weren't built very well (the team that lost to the warriors especially). dirk is a great player but limited at what he does well. that said, i'd take dirk on the knicks any day of the week.

then why are you making so much out of the one series that got them to the finals?

the point in a lot of your posts seems to be that you don't like amear. need to get something off your chest?

I didn't even mention that one series. I mentioned the sample of 97 playoff games.

No, I love Amare. I just see some crazy double standards here.

You're a Dirk hater and you're using ridicule instead of logical argument to discredit him. For what reason? I don't know.

oh really? then what else but "that one series" that got them to the finals could you be referring to here:

cuz the guy is a pussey in the clutch. folded like an accordion when the chips were on the line. mvp of the league and then he plays like that and issues statements like that? pffft.

Oh, now I understand what you're saying at least. I'd still base my evaluation more on the 97 games (which you keep ignoring!) than on either the finals or the series that got them there.
