PURE ETHER for those who doubted. And you know what the ink isn't close to dry but we have it here in black and white so barring no injuries and continued play from Illson-Mandler our GM has to put the money where his mouth is.

I have no idea what you're saying but thank you for posting the link as clarification to this topic.

I would like to re-sign Chandler too and I think it is better that Walsh is waiting till the summer to sign Chandler because he needed to see if Chandler would finally take the next step in his career and become a better player. Chandler has done that so far, despite a rocky start to the season. If he continues playing like this (smarter and more efficient than what he used to play like) than I would absolutely support re-signing Chandler to a reasonable contract.

Wilson Chandler is a better basketball player than Joe Johnson

"Everything's improved on The Mayor..."

"...his shooting technique has improved, his choice of shots has improved and the new players on the team have a lot to do with it because he gets better chances. The biggest change is when he gets to the goal in one dribble, he's such a great athlete and leaves his feet, he's up over anybody, and that separates him from a lot of players."

"Wilson has played at the top of the league in some games this year and [Tuesday] night was a good example, the way he played against a top team and they couldn't deal with him. He was shooting well from the outside, his uncanny ability to change direction in the air. He's gotten stronger and become a better defender. His game has jumped a lot."

Chandler has been really impressed me this year. Maybe he can become a late bloomer star like Joe Johnson did. His shooting has improved dramatically. If he can improve his play making abilities he might be headed to stardom.

great news! wilsons shot has improved incredibly this year which is the reason his game has blossomed the way it has.

all the player....minus the ****y diva attitude. I doubt money and deserved recognition will change the kid. Walnuts will re-sigh him...Melo's the one with the 'big decision' which will be airing sometime in June on the cartoon network....prolly below max....but we could hear the words 'i'm taking my talents to the big apple'

I would hope the money would be decent & not outlandish. Though Chandler has his games where he looks like an all star, there are still too many games that he finishes with few points and a minor impact on the game.

I got to admit, Chandler has impressed me. I always had 2 big beefs with him. His outside jumper/3 pt range has improved tremendously. I never felt he could be more then 2/3 role player without that. He fixed that and it opened up his game tremendously.

My other problem with him has been his durability. Not because he necessarily misses a lot of time, but it just seems that always around the 60 game mark or so his play dips a bit and you hear he is dealing with all different ailments. I realize people get hurt but it is kinda the same thing over and over with Wil. And he has played through injuries (last year) but his play dipped, and he has been pulled out (2 years ago). What makes it really bother me is the guy is built like a tank so he obviously takes his health and fitness seriously but always gets those nagging problems, which is one reason I was ready to see him traded or used as the 6th man.

If he can sustain his health I would definately like to see him retained. This year is renewing my interest in him but those chronic injuries have to go for him to take that next step.

Chandler is a great all around player. As he gets more experience and confidence he's going to develop that go-to shot that will make him into a star.

If The Answer Man Tells You That Joe Johnson did not reach the 20 point average plateau until his sixth NBA season, Bulledat

joec32033 - "but it just seems that always around the 60 game mark"

AM - This is only The Mayors fourth season. His rookie year he played 35 games, in 09 The Mayor played 70 games. Last year, coming off a more serious leg injury than he or the campaign office wanted to admit (because he is a warrior), he played 64

franco - there are still too many games that he finishes with few points and a minor impact on the game.

AM - franco, care to identify the games you are referring to? One more thing, what season have you been watching?

yea, but the numbers being thrown around are 5 years and 60 mil? do you want to give him that much? Honestly, signing a player also opens up a trade, especially if he has a reasonable deal...

Sheesh

"yea, but the numbers being thrown around are 5 years and 60 mil?"

tkf - don't be a sucker for Mark Berman's always-unnamed NBA "sources" as he throws numbers on a wall, hoping they stick

I'd love to keep Wilson Chandler but the "Major" nickname needs to go.

Don't get stuck in the past

In 09 he played 70 but played hurt for a bunch of games before they shut him down at the end if the season. It was the same last year. Don't get it twisted, it is a small sample size but in 2 out of his 3 seasons as a full time player he has not finished out a season. Maybe they are freak injuries. Maybe not. What worries me is it is at the same point every year for a young player who looks to be in constantly tremendous shape.

I am not bashing him but facts are facts. If he can put together a 77-80 game season or at least get through to the end without a nagging injury it would be huge in my mind. Keep in mind my main point is he seems to get hurt or start feeling it at the same point every year and his numbers do start to dip.

I am not bashing him, I have been impressed with him this year and may actually may starting to become a fan of his, but as of now I personally-not that it means much In the big picture-have concerns about him.

The RealGM clip of that article says Wilson will command a $10 million per year salary for five years.

So... I guess we can expect Turiaf/Mozgov/Gallo to be dumped for expiring deals? Otherwise the math is pretty tough.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
