Gallo tends to start games 0-3/1-4 etc.. coming in after watching part of the game and having more *interior* responsibility might be the best thing for Gallo--there was 67 bench minutes last night with turriaf getting 20 as a starter. That would break down as Gallo -35
Williams -15
Douglas -17
We have not used Gallo as a sixth man yet. I really think it might be his best spot. He can come in--be aggressive in and out and have more responsibility to be a top scoring threat off the bench--right now I think hes a 4th wheel. Chandler just fits better with he starting unit.
All star ability has nothing to do with it. Ginobli had all-star ability and he had no problem coming off teh bench. I'm not worried about the ability of the guy as my six man as long as he is good. This is not a demotion for whoever is placed in this role. It's actually one of the most important roles on any team.
Now we have no idea how Gallo would respond. He may be great in this role, but I'm just looking at what is presented to me. Wilson came off the bench ready to go. He provided energy and instant scoring and he made Toney Douglas a better player. Gallo we agree is a slow starter. Now we are asking him to sit for 6,7, 8, 9 minutes and then try to get in the flow. With his slow starts your first Gallo sighting(in terms of production) may not come until somewhere midway/late into the second quarter right when he is about ready to go to the bench again to sit for another 5-10 minutes. then we have to hope he somehow doesn't start the 2nd half the same way.
Again, it doesn't matter which of the two comes off the bench in my view. They are both talented scorers. Gallo could very well embrace that responsibility like you said and become a great six man. It's very possible. But based on what I've seen, I think Wilson is a better fit for the role.
