If MDA puts Gallo out there I will be highly disappointed. He has a sprained knee and needs to rest it. If MDA puts him out there it will be stupidity on his part to risk Gallo's health. Gallo is saying that he will be ready for SA game but don't buy into that can't risk further injury. As he is vital to the Knick's success whether it is playing for them or a future trade.

If there is one thing that annoys me as a fan, it's players who sit because they are scared to get injured. If you can play, you suit up and play.

No if you can't make a contribution to the team at the highest level then you do not suit up. If it were a hand injury I can understand your logic but a knee injury is different. If not allowed to rest it will flare up and become a chronic issue. Not all injuries are the same.

If he can play he'll play, the knicks so call state of the art training facilities/staff will have you up and running in no time.

He most likely wont play tomorrow, but if he can, go for it.

Papabear Says

Let him rest a game or 2 and then lets see what AR can do. LOL Mike D would rather have only 4 players on the court than play AR. so sad.

Come on -- how do we have any clue as to whether he should play or not. I think we all can agree that he shouldn't play if it'll put him at risk of aggravating the injury. But we don't know the situation. That's why they have a medical staff who actually work with the players to diagnose what's going on.

It's one thing to question coaches' decisions even though we have less knowledge and information than they (we still have decent information from watching the games), but questioning medical decisions that haven't even been made yet just seems over the top.

Why would you play him regardless. Your in a good position record wise. The goal is to make the playoffs right so why wouldn't you let Gallo rest his leg even if the medical staff say he can go. This is a game that Knicks won't win anyways this is like the ideal game for him to get rest. Let the bench play heavy minutes.

What do you mean "won't win anyway"...is that what you tell the guys in the locker room.

Hey guys we won't win this game so i'm going to give andy and AR the bulk of minutes.

There is a 99% chance the Knicks aren't going to win this game what are you going to do bust a guys career and risk further injury to Gallo for a game that the Knicks have 1% chance at winning. I say let the bench get some run in this game keep your main players healthy and rested for the longevity of the season.

I'm with 1248 here. I wouldn't take an even money bet on our Knicks against the Spurs, but we've got a shot. Maybe 25% chance. We've been close in a couple of our match-ups against the elite (celts and 2nd heat game). One of these times we'll get a big win.

Also, you're assuming what you can't know: that playing gallo would risk further injury. If it's determined that that's the case, then sit him. Otherwise, you let him play.

I'm sure they are going to do whatever the doctors say within some reason.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

...and if there is one thing which scares me as a coach is playing someone who is injured and having that person become more injured and losing them for even more time.

You're not talking about an offensive or defensive lineman, here, you're talking about a sport where a minor physical problem can throw off a player's timing and render them ineffective.

If there is any chance Gallinari's (or any Knicks player) injury can get worse if he plays, you sit him down.

If you think differently you're lacking some common sense, my friend.

yeah, he didn't say nothing about the degree of the tear, but he did say that surgery would probably be necessary. though he did say "we'll see" so maybe no surgery will be required.
