Wolves Plan To Make Push For Mayo, Randolph
More Timberwolves News

Dec 29, 2010 3:27 PM EST

The Timberwolves plan to make a push to acquire O.J. Mayo, sources told Ken Berger of CBS Sports.

Minnesota traded Mayo's rights to Memphis on draft night two years ago in the deal that gave them Kevin Love.

Mayo is frustrated coming off the bench in Memphis and "needs a change," according to one person familiar with the situation.

The Wolves are also pushing to acquire Anthony Randolph, who is stuck on New York's bench.

Personally I hope Randolph gets out of here so he can have a future in the NBA and come back to haunt D'Antoni.

ummm no thanks.

from the article...
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/14486778/rebuilding-turning-into-lengthy-process-for-timberwolves

Sources say the Wolves also are targeting Anthony Randolph, who is languishing on the Knicks' bench after being acquired from Golden State as part of the sign-and-trade arrangement that landed David Lee in the Bay Area. Minnesota officials will not part with Ridnour in the deal, according to an executive familiar with the team's strategy, but instead hope that Telfair would be enough to solve the Knicks' backup point guard dilemma.

i have no interest in trading randolph for a backup pg like telfair. i don't even want rubio that badly anymore but i atleast want him if we're dealing randolph...

I don't see how AR fit their team? They got darko and love so I guess coming off the bench? If you say wilson and AR but they have beasley...I guess they can't have enough SF much like PG.

Why Chandler?

Would just AR for Rubio work?

Please so no to Telfair, no need to have a relative of Marbury here.

No way Walsh should trade Randolph for Telfair. Turiaf, Buike, and Telfair for David Lee?

I don't get the whole "AR IS A CENTER"? The guy is rail thin and his fundamenal footwork is now where near as it should to play under the basket. He just wants to jump over people.

AR for Telfair is not even funny. Stupid article. ANd lets not go off on MDA like he killed AR's game, the dude just does not have one for this team at this moment.

As far as Rubio, Im not sure he is a fit here if we are in "Win Now" mode. If we are still building then you bring him and he studies under felton for a year before taking his job. Maybe that was a thought but Walsh has to think Felton is the man and we keep building around him.

Beas is better than Chandler and they don't need Wil.

I find it hard to believe Rubio accepts Minny as a destination. They are putting some things together up there but I don't get it.

AR + 3 million in cash for Rubio.

Although I would wait for that until the offseason because there is a chance AR would be a part of any deal made before the end of this season.

I would be very careful with bringing in Rubio. First of all he has done nothing great to cheer about with team he is with. Felton is thinking he is the future point guard and now we bring in Rubio. How a team gel together is very important. Felton might regress or the chemistry of the team might be bad. I really don't know.

Rubio would study under Felton for 2 or 3 years. But you know, Felton, he might be out of our price range by the time his contract is up. He could go take the cash money payout from the Clippers after next season.

It's wouldn't hurt for Felton to have competition at the point. He's a great player, and keeping a fire under his arse can only improve his play. Rubio would be an NBA rookie, so there's no chance he would be starting during Felton's current deal. As for the future, as of now Felton's a lock and Rubio would be his understudy.

Still, Rubio has huge upside and could be the sort of transcendent talent that would take MDAs system to the next level, but he needs a few years to develop.

No way I trade AR for Telfair, that's just plain crazy. But I would give up AR for Rubio in a nanosecond. But ONLY AR, not any of our other players.

It's nice that we have a solid team with a star PG right now. Gives us a lot of flexibility in our future moves. Donnie Walnuts is da man.

Tell me! What is so special about Rubio. Can he hit the 3 ?? Tell me please. Maybe I am missing something about this kid. I know he is flashy but he will be coming to the NBA.

Wow, Did Walsh do something terrible in his mentorship to Kahn or what? What a joke - Telfair for AR.

And now, I don't think we would want Rubio except as an asset for Melo. Rubio can't shoot and in this offense we need a point who can shoot. Being a great passer is nice, but again, in this offense we need a point who can shoot. That is why we would have picked Stephen Curry over Rubio had it come down to that.
