Listen: I don't like D Wade, LeCon, or Bosh, or the Heat. But the game I saw last night when they played the Lakers was a wake up call. They destroyed the Lakers. The Heat Whipped the ball around so fast that it would make your head spin. They held Kobe and his top players to very low figures. LeCon is hitting those 3s like crazy. They have that attitude like it's us against the world. Their defense is very good and their supporting cast is like professional snipers who don't miss when they are called on to make shots. If they continue to get better they may just take everything this season. Now I'm not saying they can't be beat but they sure is starting to look good.
It really don't make sense for us to get Carmelo and give up our young because we will need Chandler , Fields , and Gallo, to help us take out the Heat plus we need a Killer Big Man who can score defend and keep Amare out of trouble. We must sign Carmelo at the end of the season. If we loose him so be it. We just keep making our young players get better and build up our bench with defenders and snipers.

plus they have mike miller coming back. yikes. they are true NBA villains. i hate each and every one of them.

good point though, trading for carmelo puts us further from beating them in my opinion.

The lakers look like they were out for a stroll, they played like it was the 1st game of the year..I was watching the Bucks/laker game when they lost by 19, they look the same exact way, NO intrest, No importance, No urgency..Blake is a solid back up, but he stinks defensively.

The heat are a really really good defensive team, but no matter how good a defense they have, you can't defend ball movement and spacing..

The knicks shot 50% against the top 2 defensive (cetics bulls) teams in the league..We can beat Miaimi if we don't turn the ball over, make our FTs, hit our 3's. we don't have to have a great defense to beat them, just make a few key stops, and keep the ball moving on offense..

Put AR on him with one job-stay with him-if he goes potty-hand him the paper. If he gets the ball inside everyone except Amare on Bosh and Felton on Wade makes believe he is a punching bag-let someone else beat us. No permitting him inside with less than two men on him.

I wouldn't base much off of this game. The Lakers always put it on cruise control until the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Lakers, very good, very strong. It's more that they had an off day, Jackson wasn't into it, than that the Heat are omnipotent.

I repeat! The Miami Heat ain't no joke. Say what you want. I don't like the Heat but they will be the team to beat and I don't want us to be like the Michael Jordan days when we could have won 3 rings if it wasn't for Michael Jordan. We never gave Ewing that 2nd super star. We must prepare now to have a team that will be better than the Heat because in the next 5 years they will be the team to beat. Point Blank and if you don't believe that! you have blinders on. Stop taking this threat so lightly. Let's be honest and real.

LOS ANGELES – Kobe Bryant(notes) walked into the locker room after LeBron James(notes) and the Miami Heat had finished their Christmas humiliation of the defending champs, and it was clear he didn’t have much of a pep talk for his teammates.

“We’re playing like [bleep],” Bryant shouted.

It’s only 30 games into the season, but Bryant and his big-headed Los Angeles Lakers didn’t have much reason to smile after the Heat blasted them 96-80 at Staples Center in what promised to be one of the season’s most-watched games. And this came just four days after the Lakers lost by 19 points at home to the Milwaukee Bucks.
More From Marc J. Spears

The Lakers are a respectable 21-9, but just 2-4 against teams with winning records. Bryant doesn’t have to search long for the reason why.

“Complacency,” Bryant told Yahoo! Sports. “We play too straight.

“We got to nip that [bleep] in the bud now.”

The Lakers have run into this problem before. A year ago, James brought his Cleveland Cavaliers into Staples Center on Christmas and crushed the Lakers. “We always suck on Christmas,” Bryant said in his news conference after Saturday’s loss. “They should just take us off today.”

Miami is the better team right now, but that's not saying much considering we haven't even reached the all star break yet.
Few reasons for LA's recent dismal play.

-Bynum not 100%
-Gasol looks tired/fatigued
-Artest needs to pick up his play

Yes and that was Cleveland but this is the Miami Heat ten times better than Cleveland. Kobe's Lakers must understand something. The Heat ain't no joke. Kobe really wanted this game and so did his team. They got beat by a better team. I hate the Heat and I don't want to spend the next 5 years being the 2nd or 3rd best team in the east. We can't give up Chandler, Fields , and Gallo for Carmelo and think that we can beat the Heat. We will be just a good team who will get blown out in the playoffs.

The Lakers lost cuz they didn't adjust to the Heat D or O. The Heat are VERY fast and aggressive in attacking whoever has the ball. So as soon as you give it to Kobe they shift en masse to his side and prevent him from driving and his man gets up close on him to make shooting difficult, so you end up not getting anything out of that possession but a bad shot.

This is how you have to beat them. Your offense has to move quick and not just stand around. If you have a lot of motion and if you attack at the same time they can't decide who to guard as a group and it messes up their D. Also you need to run and get a lot of early offense. So you must play good D and get out and run.

Passing the ball to a big is good, but then you have to run cutters off of that, cuz they will look to mob your big. Also you really have to hit your 3's. That's the one weakness in their D, cuz you really can't double a guy or pressure him out at the 3pt line. The PnR is hard to run against them, but the PnP is probably gonna be more successful. Since they defend in packs you want to trick them into defending one side and then have a back cut from the other side right at the hoop.

In short misdirection is the key to beating the Heat. Also on D you must have guys that can stay in front of their very fast killers, Lebron and Wade. If not then you need to also pack the paint so they can't get to the hole. Make them take contested jumpers. Keep a man on Bosh, cuz he just stands there and cleans up on open jumpers all day.

In the finals (if they get there because SA and Dallas are damnd good), the Lakers will dispose of the Heat in 6. Book it. Same with SA and Dallas.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I don't care about SA and Dallas. I care about us! 5 years playing Bosh, Wade, James and their snipers. We must have a better team than the Heat in order for us to get to the finals. We have a lot of work to do. Boston have the best chance to beat the Heat I agree. But where does that leave us? I want to beat both of them to get to the finals. How do we do this??

When healthy Boston does what I was describing in my earlier post. They come at you from all angles. They have so much talent that the Heat can't do what they like to do, which is mob the area you send the ball to. They move so fast that they can clog an area of the floor and still move back to the other side if you pass the ball. They never fully commit, but they shift from one side of the paint to the other and make it impossible to drive. The thing is that Boston has Ray and Pierce and they run Ray like crazy looking for the 3 and that is something the Heat D is not designed to stop. Then if they do, it leaves Pierce and KG open. So that is something different that they do which many teams don't have.

Compare that to our offense which has a lot of stand still shooters and a PnR up top. They can just run their D and it works against us. We have to run some of our other plays that have more motion. If we do that they won't be able to just clog the paint area. If we hit from outside that's another thing they can't stop. We shot poorly that game against them and so we looked lost, but if we were hitting those 3's it would've been a different story.

cheers
