As predicted by @paulcoro, Suns have waived C Earl Barron. Knicks could have interest, but they'd have to waive someone

We desperately need the size and the depth and he knows the system. It makes perfect sense.

Waive Mason or Rautins.

Agreed. Mason isn't doing anything. The kid rebounds and hits the occasional shot. Why not.

waive mason, sign barron.

if we're desperate we may need rautins for a few minutes in a game as pg (not that i'd want that), plus he's still a rookie, and at least showed us something in pre-season.

Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

Well, you can all be rest assured that management already knows about this. We are probably on the phone with his agent now. He played poorly from the box scores in Phoenix and Orlando runs a different offense, so I'm not really sure he fits their style anyway. But If Orlando likes him will they offer him 2 years and us just one, or something along those lines. I doubt we want to give him a two year deal with Mos probably being more ready next year.

hahn says the knicks are discussing it...

The Knicks Fix
Source told me the Knicks are having internal discussions about adding Earl Barron, who was waived by Suns. No decisions made, nothing imminent. They'd have to waive a player to open a roster spot. Barron averaged 11 pts and 11.7 boards in 7 games with Knicks at end of 09-10 season. Decent backup material.

I knew that would happen.

Anyway, he's probably more helpful for us than Mason.

MUCH more helpful than "Brick" Mason. Earl can contribute. Mason is a lost cause, maybe he will get picked up... doubtful.

I love the idea of bringing Barron back and I think Mason and Rautins are both taking up roster spots that could be better filled by other players. My only fear with bringing Barron back is that the second step is to trade Turiaf for Duhon. In the past Walsh has made one move with his next move in mind. I think the Knicks need Barron and Turiaf. I wouldn't want a Barron signing to be the move made so that the Knicks could trade Turiaf and bring Duhon back.

Enough of the Mason hate. He does very well in practice - shoots lights out. We just need to get him to believe that a real game is practice

I would sooner cut Mason that Rautins as Rautins is more the backup PG in a year or two. Mason is on a one year contract and the spurs let him go, him accepting the 1 year deal and the Spurs letting him go are not good signs.

If we don't sign Earl Barron, it MUST mean that we have another plan and I think a lot of these "other plans" are all waiting on Melo. That said, just put Mos out there for 10 minutes a game to spell Amare in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. He can't be any worse than Douglas has been. (Ok he is injured and Mos is a rook)

Yeap, we should sign Earl Barron. He was the only center MDA actually seemed willing to play.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Was he cut? NBA TV says he was recalled from the DLeague, but no news that he was cut.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Yep. Released.

I think last year he proved he had some clearly NBA-level skills. Averaging 11ppg/12rpg in 33mpg against NBA-level competition has to be worth something, right? He also showed a reasonable outside touch.

We have no sense if he's lazy or a headcase behind the scenes... but the fact that he had a hard time latching on to a team post-Knicks didn't help.

What we do know is that the Knicks could use some production off the bench.
