Talks would NOT have gone this far if Melo has told Denver Im not signing an extension with the Nets. There would have been NOTHING to talk about.

Melo's agent/reps can speak for him as a proxy. Obviously King pulled those deals off to facilitate the Melo trade. Those trades need to go through FIRST. Then the Melo trade can be processed.

If this Melo trade happens Im predicting a Gasol 2.0 trade of Chris Paul to NJ. All the pieces are in place. Hornet losing money like Memphis was. A star(Melo) in need of help like Kobe was.

David Sterns wet dream come true. A NYC cross town rivalry. Chicago, Boston, and the Heat in the playoffs.

The Nuggets can like the deal all they want but it's still up to Melo since he has not signed an extension yet.

At the end of the day, the net result may be that the Nets have a bunch of draft picks.

at that point, Nets would have exhausted both their cap and assets before CP3 is even in picture.

Pau Gasol was traded for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, Marc Gasol and first round picks in 2008 and 2010.

So Im guessing Chris Paul for Brook Lopez, James, Trash, and picks. Obviously the deal is trash but ESPN will spin that deal like Lopez is a franchise player and Paul DEMANDED to play with his buddy Melo.
