on Brandon Tierney... he said "even our announcers say.. if a guy is hot, get him the ball.. well no, move the ball to who is open"

Brandon was like "throwin some shots at breen!" Mike was like "no its not that one"

and i remember Clyde saying that.. personally I agree with Clyde on this.. but kinda lame Mike called him out

That's pretty mild... I wouldn't say he "called him out"
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Defense gives and takes. An open shot is better than a forced one by a hot hand?

Has clyde forgotten? IN Debussure's book written about the 1970 championship year "The open man" the title
refers to Coach Red Holzman's creedo: "See the ball, hit the open man. ..."

Clyde should know better.

Watch some old clips of games from that era. In many respects MDA has borrowed much from what Holzman used to do. IM not saying its the same, but the game involved ball movement not isolations.

Giving it to a hot guy and letting him create was not what "hit the open man" as about.

Melo if he coudl actually be a part of the flow would be great. If he fought it the knicks would be a disaster.

Amare getting the ball low in the wing reminds me of where Ewing would get the ball and face the basket and score. Im not thrilled but at games closing you need to run the half court game with the go to guy and he is getting it done.

MDA called out "announcers" but remember he is trying to build a chemistry over and over day in and day out!

It's not like you force the ball into a double team or whatever. If a guy is hot, the team tends to work to get that player the ball in a reasonable situation. Felton does that for Amar'e. Hell, the whole team was trying to get Chandler the ball in great position over and over again against the Nugs. You obviously hit the open man, but you want that open man to be the guy who's on fire

clyde is a pimp daddy new york legend. He lives in St Croix during likely doing a Dexter St. Jock impression
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Also, I can see both sides of the argument about hitting the guy that is hot as oppose to the open man. I too remembered when he said this and Amare was on a roll but Felton took an early shot. Felton might have been open but it was early in the shot clock and he could have set up Amare first.

I vaguely remember when Clyde said that. I think it was when Amar'e hit 3 or 4. Neither MDA or Clyde are wrong. If you have guys who can shoot the ball then you can't go wrong with hitting the man if he's open. If you got Amar'e cooking, then go to him. It's just a matter of picking your poison.

There is only one player in the team the drives me nuts with his shot selection. Please. Please. Please. Can we teach TD that if a PnR is stopped and you are standing 2 feet from the 3pt line that is not the shot to take? There is a reason you are open from there.

Clyde also likes to reward the big-man after a block.

Clyde is a leader, D'Antoni a coach. They're both right. A good PG when to do which.

I think D'Antoni was getting at that he doesn't want players to force shots just cause they have the hot hand...

However, there have been times where Williams or Gallo or Toney were clearly on fire, but then they wouldn't even get touches let alone shot attempts for the next four possessions, and I think that's what Clyde usually alludes to.

Clyde does no wrong in my eyes.

Clyde also likes to say "reward the big man for the defensive stop," cause it gets him to keep up that intensity...which isn't far off from what Spoelestra was reported to have done with Miami's big three.

I also don't think MDA likes the fact that Breen, Clyde, Tripucka, Johnny Hoops are so critical of TD shot selections. I think MDA likes the PHX commentator of Rah Rah Rah.

Breen, Clyde and Andraise have been critical of Ewing, Houston, Sprewell, Marbury, Crawford, Curry... everyone. They aren't stopping for Stoudemire and they shouldn't. They are good broadcasters.

Yup. The only homer broadcaster is Gus but he is gone.
