The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on rookie guard Darington Hobson, General Manager John Hammond announced today.

Hobson, 23, was selected in the second round (37th overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft after being named Mountain West Conference Player of the Year as a junior at New Mexico. He was unable to participate in the Bucks Summer League entry or training camp due to a hip injury, which led to season-ending surgery on October 12.

Wouldn't be a bad pick up to store until next year.

Would love to see Mason Jr. released and Hobson signed.

Actually, I'd love to see Mason Jr. released even without picking up Hobson.

+1, either way. Mason Jr. is a wasted roster spot. He's useless on our team.

He's more than useless. The fact that D'Antoni still throws him into games on occasion makes him a detriment.

CUT HIM NAO

Fun fact -- Roger Mason Jr. is shooting 7.7% for the season.

no please. much rather trove dleague.

knicks used to be good at giving out ten day contracts, thats how starks got his break. dont get why ny does not do that more often. especially now that the nba has a minor league.

Yea as a future prospect. Milwaukee is only cutting him because they are ravaged by injuries.

Im not saying he is a future all star but we could use a big guard.

EArl Barron?

did someone sign him? Why havent we? Turiaf is going to miss 20-30 games this year if we plan on playing him start minutes. The extra body would be good

We have to many projects as is. I like this guy as well--I think he could play 1 guard at times but there would have to be a massive shift in the roster because there's an abundance of projects and wasted space. First order of business we need another good vet player. It could be attractive to bundle a Rautins with someone else at some point to bring in a vet player who helps the team win now off the bench and gives us more roster flexibility. Doubt it happens until Feb but you never know.

He's on Phoenix averaging 10 minutes, 1.5 points and 2.5 rebounds.

I was just disputing this notion that we haven't tried to use the D-league. We've brought up 4 or 5 guys since Walsh got here. That being said I agree that we need an extra big body. I also think we need a veteran PG for depth.

We should be picking this guy up:

For short term injury help or spot minutes now, he is exactly the type of guy I would be looking for. For long term help(if Felton goes down) I'm not sure he's the playmaker that would work in this offense.

I've been making the point in other threads that we're right up against the salary cap wall. I'm not sure if we can cut guaranteed salary guys without going over it when we sign the minimum guy. Rautins and Williams might be the only cuttable guys.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

You can always give out min contracts regardless of cap situation, as long as there's a roster spot.

+1. We're gonna need that spot. Just saw a thread with several live bodies, including a lot of bigs. Whoever is of no purpose (Rautins) should be plying their trade in the D-Leauge. The ten day contract should be put to use NOW!!

By the way, does anyone know where Lance "Lady Killer" Stephenson is?

Yes, but if that min contract puts you over the cap, you lose the exemptions that come with being under the cap. In essence we wouldn't be able to make the same trades were we to go over the cap that we can while we're under it.
