I know I am not the only one that find it strange that Portland recieved Miles for their only other player besides Stoudamire that plays PG on their whole roster. Its all my assumption but I see Portland doing a trade with another team very soon. I expect them to be recieving a PG in return. The 2 most likely trades can be with the Chicago Bulls or with the Knicks.
Chicago has been throwing crawford and curry around with their bad conctracts of fizer, jerome williams, eddie robinson, and possibly A. Davis.
New York has been offering frank williams but nothing sounds too realistic from what we have been hearing, the contracts are too much to take on for frank williams alone....

Miles plays the SF position, which Rasheed starts, patterson subs, and seldomly used Qyntel Woods and Wesley Person play since the return of Derek Anderson. Possibly the trade was done just for salary relief, however, with only 1 pg currently on the roster, I see a trade coming soon. Whether it involves the knicks are not, im not sure...

As much as i want the knicks to do be a dominant playeroff contender, I dont want them to force any major trades. I seriously believe they are 2 players and some time to just mesh to be a top 4 seeded team in the east. When camby was a knick, i always dreamed of seeing him and mutumbo join forces to be a nasty defensive force. After this trade for marbary, I believe the nba players once again would love to play for the garden, possibly even for lower salaries. For the past season, we have had trouble signing free agents, but I think this summer will be very much different. After seeing malone and payton sign over the lakers this year, im dreaming maybe Rasheed might sign with the knicks for the midlevel exception for a year or 2. AFterall, a trip to the Nba finals would be a lot easier to go after in the east, and what better place to do in than the revival of the garden

Great post, Ron. I sensed the same thing after they traded for Miles.

I can't say this enough: remember when Sheed said that he'd only sign anextension with the Cavs (who just traded with Portland) or the Knicks.

I think Sheed's gonna be traded here real soon.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

OK, Let's say we give Portland some gems to make the deal happen.

We can give them a good PG, since they just traded Mcinnis. We also give them a hometown product (a 5, who replaces Ruben, who was just traded, and is better than Ruben) with a small contract. They just gotta take KVH and his good guy image with them. Why wouldn't they do it?

That way we still have KT to play the 4/5 with Sheed @ the 3,4 or 5 and Woods/Penny @ the 3. Deke can be used more sparingly @ the 5. FWill is not in the rotation now, so moving him will have a minimal effect on the backcourt.

The deal works:

Portland trades:
SF Rasheed Wallace (17.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.7 apg in 38.3 minutes)
SF Qyntel Woods (4.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.9 apg in 14.0 minutes)
Portland receives:
PG Frank Williams (4.7 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.4 apg in 13.1 minutes)
C Michael Doleac (4.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
SF Keith Van Horn (17.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.6 apg in 34.3 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +4.2 ppg, +2.1 rpg, and +0.9 apg.

New York trades:
PG Frank Williams (4.7 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.4 apg in 13.1 minutes)
C Michael Doleac (4.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
SF Keith Van Horn (17.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.6 apg in 34.3 minutes)
New York receives:
SF Rasheed Wallace (17.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.7 apg in 36 games)
SF Qyntel Woods (4.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.9 apg in 35 games)
Change in team outlook: -4.2 ppg, -2.1 rpg, and -0.9 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Trade ID number 1435339

I believe it's the kind of deal both teams would want to do. They both benefit from it. Portland even gets a amall edge statwise, which sweetens the deal. We get the low-post presence and a serviceable SF as well. All that and we STILL have KT!

If you can come up with a more balanced deal, post the realGM page and show it off! It just might be the deal Zeke makes!

I would be more than happy with this one, though.

If you haven't ben reading the threads, then start doing so now. Or you can wait till he gets here and makes this team better, and eat crow with the rest of the doubters.

i seriously dont think you guys realize the talent in rasheed wallace. He has a tremendous inside post prescense that he hasnt been using much until late this year. He has mixed his game with 3pt shooting for the past 2 seasons howeever, he once again is demanding the ball where we need it most, in the paint with his back to the basket. I wont say his defense is great however, he should average over a steal and over a block each game. I mean, if we were able to get to rasheed, what would the cost be? the worst case scenerio would be salary cap relief... and maybe by then we will lost KVH or KT and we can either complain about how we missed them like we always do or we can move on and see what we can do with that "athleticism" we are trying to obtain...
his off the court troubles with marijuana and famous run ins with refs have blinded some people from this guys talent...

if any of you watched this guy play in the kings game... commanding double and triple teams as brad miller and vlade divac couldnt hold him. the bad part of the game is he got a techinical during the final seconds during a crucial game that went to OT...

exactly. all i see from wallace over the past years is a jump shooter. if he can get back to his post game, fine make the trade. as it sits now, thomas is more of a post player than wallace is. and thomas is probably a better defender.

82% of wallaces shots this year are jumpers. 82%. thats not a post player.

i agree, he has loads of talent but he needs to get back to the nasty, dunk on your head player he can be. if he doesnt, he will be completely inefective on this team.

that's all..............no need to get upset hardcore.

Will that be before or after he
throws a towel in Marbury's face
curses at Lenny during a timeout
spits on Dick Bovetta for calling him for a hacking foul
punches Penny
gets caught with a pound of oregeno (I thought it was a condiment oficer)
complains to the media that he is being exploited
demands a 6 year $110 million contract extension to go with his 17 points and 6 rebs

I guess that makes me a doubter also...

Nah, Turtle... I am not upset at all. It just didn't seem like you understood the pluses regarding Sheed.

What you said that "Sheed "needs to get back to the nasty, dunk on your head player he can be", you were 100% correct. IMO he will be able to accomlish that here. Right now in Portland he spreads the perimeter because that is what he's needed for there. In NY, he'll be our low-post presence.

The thing now is when the deal will take place, whatever it turns out to be.

Okay...

Did Spree choke anybody on the Knicks?
Did Spree threaten anyone with a 2x4 on the Knicks?

NO.

The same thing you're saying about Sheed was said about Spree.

They were doubters then...
You're a doubter now. You're still cool though, Fish.

I'm willing to see what Sheed, Starbury and Houston can do in the east. In a 'win now' atmosphere, that's a no-brainer. So let's go ahead and win now. Get Sheed, but STILL keep looking for a backup center...

When I saw this trade for miles, i figured that portland may be ready to move woods, I would love to get woods from them and I would trade any combo of course not involving steph to get both sheed and woods..

NO.

The same thing you're saying about Sheed was said about Spree.

They were doubters then...
You're a doubter now. You're still cool though, Fish.

A couple things that makes that an unfair comparison

Spree was never busted with drugs (repeatedly)
Hardaway said the 2x4 story wasnt true, and that he and Spree werent friends but never had problems together in GS
Even when Spree wasnt starting or playing out of position he never complained about minutes or threw a towel in a teammates face
Spree didnt have problems with technical fouls or on court behaivor before or after choking PJ

When Spree came to the Knicks he knew he was getting a second chance and he played hard, took young guys under his wing and embraced the fans.

Wallace doesnt sign autographs, smokes dope off the court and acts like one on the court and STILL has problems with people. This is a guy that threw basketballs at Reuban Bomx2 when the guy has his back turned, and actually put the guy on IR.
This is guy thats said he's going where the money is. He doesnt care about basketball and he doesnt play with passion.

He worse than a cancer... so if Isiah really does think he can get through to him its a pretty scary prospect. You want to sign this guy for $80 mill next year?

When was the last time you saw him play, and what about that play inspired you?
