I loved David Lee, but that treatment was sickening. When the home network promotes a post game interview with an opposing player before the game is over, you know something is WAY over the top.

"David Lee did everything last night but burn the whole damn Garden down.
Lee took no prisoners, drawing Knicks blood, leaving his own on the court, knocking out Wilson Chandler's front tooth and knocking coach Mike D'Antoni's team into crisis."

From Another Unnamed Source: VB1

"Let's hope the low point of the season will remain the 76er loss, but this is another team they could have beaten and should have beaten at home .

I know the Media has promoted the "David Lee Story" , but I have a problem with giving a video tribute to a player that did not contribute anything substantial to the team's history and with all of the slight to players in the past Lee whose contributions have been ignored, it seems quite unfair to those players.

Are they gonna give Harrington a video tribute ?

Not to mention the bad timing during the game the Garden continues to make bizarre decisions . If they are gonna do a better job honoring Players they need to start with the ones who are more deserving .

The Media's treatment of Lee is another example of their bias"

I cannot wait until Al Harrington returns.

Wrong, Mr.Earl. David Lee played hard for us in the dark times. We didn't try to keep him. He came here and won the game with the same skills we ignored this summer. This one day he deserved his "props".
Now, next time, if they win and he plays good, it won't mean squat. It will just suck.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

Good post. My problem with Lee is that he made a conscious decision to sacrifice defense for stats. There is no way to sugar coat it.
There is no excuse that could paper that over for me. Larry Johnson playing center for a while with his bad back and putting his body on the line for the team. That's the kind of guy you make tribute videos for. Not some guy who was more concerned with his double-double. How many games did he actually win us in crunch time? Not many that's for sure.

Lee was a good citizen and he didn't get caught up in all the drama that usually follows the Knicks, that's worth a thank you but that and no defense should not get you a tribute film.

I recall they did a video tribute for Jamal Crawford and made a storyline around his first trip back to the garden. All in all, no big deal.

For me Lee did more than the enough as a person representing the Knicks organization to earn a tribute. Who cares how good he was on the court.

We are a storied founding franchise that has been a floundering franchise with a bad story to tell. There is still Isiah stories in the media every week for God's sake.

So the organization is trying to rid some of that bad karma in the Garden hanging up there with the asbestos and our two lonely championship banners.

Some folks don't love the guy, and I didn't see the tribute myself but I am not mad in the least at the idea.

Rebounds are a defensive stat, dangit! Larry Johnson wasn't a young "Grandmama" anymore so he had to switch up his style to stay in the league. Who *is* playing smashmouth defense in the NBA anymore?

Lee worked hard and hustled and developed his game in a disaster area and had his agent play nice. This guy was our only All Star representative for what, 10 years? Props to him.

Now we got that over with, I want us to murder him & his team every chance.

David Lee is a player with limitations.
But he is not a player with false promises.
He is what it is and ANY team in NBA can rely on him every game for what he is good at.
It is also very clear that he is not good in some things and must be used accordingly.
DLee represents stability and integrity. And those 2 things are must for any team to be a consistent winner.
Same is true for him as an American. People like him keep this country moving forward with proud.
That’s why he is honored.
Thank you David for what you are.
Nobody will be ashaimed that you was a Knick at times when it was many Knicks players and executives who make me vomit.

93 Buick - Guys who played "hard" in the dark times:

Al Harrington, despite the fact he hung on the rim twice... Elizabeth New Jersey's finest

Quentin Richardson, just because he challenged Marbury, just wish he decided to drop the poundage earlier

Malik Rose, for being overmatched and despite his suspect shot

Trevor Ariza, delusional or not, he cashed in and made a name for himself

Matt Barnes, who could still be playing guard for us

Kurt Thomas, through good times and bad times Kurt never backed down, rebounded eggectively and many times made the shot

Mark Jackson, should have never been traded and would make the perfect head coach for this roster of yoots. Style and New York toughness. A rare combination.

I agree, it was way over the top.. yet amare did a number on him, and when you figure in that chandler was at PF, he and amare combined for 60 points on that front line...

with that said, I had no problem with the tribute. lee was a great guy for the knicks..

Q:Why was it so easy all of the sudden for Quentin Richardson to lose weight for Riley and the Heat?

The Recipe To Regroup (ten reasons to take a chill pill and enjoy the rollercoaster)

1. Until Carmelo slips a Knicks jersey over his head, stop coveting and salivating over his services. Chill people. Enough with the trades.

2. John Havlicek made a living by moving on the offensive end. The fact Fields is non-stop is a good thing, not a negative. Enjoy watching him grow. Did anyone notice that Landry is shooting 56 per cent from the Fields?

3. Amar'e has the most difficult adjustment of all. The spotlight is much brighter in New York than in Phoenix. Forget the pick and roll. Pick and pop him like Kurt Thomas.

4. (part 2) Amar'e needs help inside. Let Mozgov play until he fouls out. The young Russian has more size, quickness, intensity and desire than any center since Marcus Camby.

5. Danilo Gallinari is putting up Chris Duhon-like numbers @ 35 per cent from the floor. He can only improve.

6. DWTDD

7. The Mayor played despite having a tooth knocked out, but David Lee is the warrior? C'mon Son! GTFOHWTB

8. How can anyone be disenchanted with yoot Anthony Randolph after 60 minutes of playing time?

9. We miss Ronny Turiaf more than we admit

10. Mark Jackson is still available
