Just something to think about with him coming to the garden tonight.. I was reading an interesting scenario in this article.. http://www.msg.com/blogs/charlie-zegers/what-if-the-knicks-had-kept-david-lee-1.53994 and It looks to me that we would have no D whatsoever.. what do you guys think?
I don't think there will be a problem unless somebody wants to make a problem, ... If they really want to make a problem, they're going to have to make a decision about how they want to spend their adult life in terms of playing in the NBA or not.

I would be torn by looking at that lineup. We are a good team with that lineup, but not good enough to get homecourt advantage. If you add CP3 to that lineup and have the right defensive minded big off the bench, you are looking at a contender. But at the end of the day, i think this would limit the opportunity because of retaining such a large contract. Clearly if we are spending a lot of money on one player, we are going all-out on a superstar.

anyway, I think it would have been worth exploring. Some geniuses say he could not have coexisted with Amare but, he was able to produce playing next to Curry and Randolph so, I say that doesn't hold any weight.
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I like the intangibles Amare has brought to this club -- leadership, interior D, and the star power to draw other marquee names...

But there are parts of Lee's offensive game I am definitely going to miss. Especially his outlet passes. Or his passing from the post.

But I don't think I could endure another 5 seasons of Lee and an open layup lane.

Its simple +Lee - Turiaf we would have scored 15PPG more per game, given up about 25PPG more and would be 0-8.

Then we play with the undersized center. Amar'e doesn't want to play center, Lee can't. Also cut those blocks in half. None for Lee, 2 for Amar'e. Also, nohope of AR, Turiaf and 'buke coming this way.

The problem with that is defense. Our frontcourt defense is not very good with that combination in the front court. Our defense is generally improved this year, but I don't believe that would've been the case had we had Lee + Amar'e for 70 mins a night. Also, had we kept Lee, would we have had enough cap room to also sign Felton and Mosgov? Probably not.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

exactly... lee had good numbers, but he scored a lot of cherry picking points.. if amare didn't have 3 warriors hanging on his back every play, he would have dropped 50 on lee and that front line.. but good game for lee I gues....

If we drafted Lopez and Jennings the Knicks are a playoff team. That talent might have been enough to attract LBJ.

If the Dallas Mavericks pass on Kiki Vandeweghe, and he remains on the board for just one more draft selection the Knicks are perennial winners every year starting in 1980

Amare is still learning to work with these players, but there is no doubt in my mind that he is the better player by a noticeable margin and a Lee and Amare frontcourt just would not have worked. We need more production from our center and SG to make the leap to the next level, but that would not have changed if Lee were still here.

where is Sergio on these threads? He's the guy that said Lee is a MLE player and garbage. Dude torched us last night and has his new team playing great ball.

The warriors are 6-2 and we are 3-4. We suck period. Where are all those blocks getting us. Turiaf is a good guy and I like the toughness, I stunned how bad AR has looked and Buke may not even play this season.

David Lee is a great player. Amare is the sexier name, but the difference between them isn't that glaring. The two of them together would have been a nightmare. And are we really going to get Melo? Maybe? So it wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world to play them together.

We lost to the sixers, bucks and warriors. We would have been a better team with the two of them. We don't have anyone that can score down the stretch right now.

Dlee like he is at a more comfortable weight. He looked slimmer last nite and quick as a cat.

He is playing forward now and it suits him better. Warriors have a hell of back court.

Im happy for him, his work ethic translated to an 80million dollar contract and he is in a good situation.

Too bad we did not have the circumstances to keep him.

ummm Eddy and Zbo did not end well but Lee still produced. He seemed to have no problems coexisting with Zach. It was heartless curry who was the problem. He reverted to the Eddy of 2years past that where he was an offensive foul machine.

right, he's playing with 2 very talented G's in Curry & Ellis that shoulder the load on most nights scoring wise & allow him to play more of his old shallow water role, something he sorta went away from last year w/all those midrange J's he was taking as he became a focal point of the offense... & like u said he's no longer playing out of position either... i'm happy for Lee that he's found a good situation & got the money he was seeking... the Knicks had no way to sign him & still be a player for 2 max players this summer... the moment we made the T-Mac trade, it pretty much sealed his fate in NY... i thought his comments before the game were refreshingly honest & sincere about how angry he was at first that the Knicks were making him a 5th option in free agency, & respect the fact that he was able to realize it was nothing personal & only business... i'll always root for Lee to have success in the NBA, he's obviously a great guy... but there was no realistic way our franchise would have much success with him playing the C position for the next 6 years IMHO.
