"Still, without NBA experience, it's stunning that he looks more polished than Danilo Gallinari. In fact, Fields, the 39th pick in the draft, is playing so well he may play himself to Denver in a potential Carmelo Anthony deal."

- Marc Berman

Really?

Donnie Walsh uncovers a gem while panning for gold and the quickest best thing he can do is trade him?

Really?

that would really suck if he is just being showcased but if adding fields can bring melo, we have to make that trade. on the other hand, it looks like he is leaving denver anyway so there may be no reason to pay much.

I would be a little concerned about any trade for Melo that includes Fields. We really don't have another good option at SG and Carmelo is going to play SF. As much as I would like Melo, we can't give up Fields without getting a starting SG back, so I would rather just not trade Fields at all. If anyone is being showcased, I would wonder if it could be Wilson Chandler. What a performance for that first game.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Fields is a keeper... he's a solid rotation player on a cheap contract. You don't really trade those. Berman is on crack.
Rose is not the answer.

NYKbock - Thats just for openers. according to Berman, after Shawne Williams lit up practice with his shooting, he deduced that it must have been Stat lobbying D'Antoni for minutes on his behalf because they share the same agent (?)

Say Whut?

But back to Fields... Keep him.

A 6'7 coach on the floor is a rare commodity that hasn't been seen in The Garden since the days of ...well... Dave DeBusschere

think about that a moment

Don't you find this constant talk of gutting the team for Carmelo Anthony annoying? It seems as if this is the sole exsistence of the blogs nowadays.

I'd offer Denver a draft pick and Gallo/Fields or Fields/Chandler for Melo. Fields does look like the steal of the draft.

That would be as far as I would want to go for Melo. I hope Fields works out here but there is some logic to him being a possible key to a deal for Melo.

The Nuggets have made it clear they want good young talent in return and this kid fits that bill. What will make the deal for Melo happen faster is this team winning games with our young talent as the backbone of that team. Chan playing so well along with Fields is going to open Denver's eyes to just how talented our players are. Now when Gallo starts to find his stroke that will only help to make Denver more receptive to a deal.

Make no mistake Berman is talking like this cuz it's a major focus of the Knicks to find a way to add Melo. If you look at the East, it's not that far off from being an also ran to being one of the top 5 teams in the East. You put Melo on this team with Amar'e/Timo/Felton/AZ (when he returns) and you have a team that can compete with the top teams in the East. They might offer Fields/Gallo/Curry + Pick or Chandler instead of Gallo . The idea is that you'd have Melo playing huge minutes so you can fill in a guy off the bench to cover the remaining minutes. It only helps that Fields shows he's ready to contribute.

you do have to wonder what the team would have to look like to stop the constant trade speculation

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I also don't think that any team in sports has more negative beat writers than the Knicks. I don't think that's selling papers, so I don't really get what the reason is for it.

I think it's simple. Chandler has to keep playing like he did last game and Gallo has to play like an All Star. If Gallo plays at a higher level and with the aggression and confidence of a star player, that would end the rumors. Having our own star players is always been the key to media acceptance.

Good. I like Landry but i aint sentimental if he can return a guy who takes us to the next level.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Mr Earl- Your own ideas are cool- please don't pour oil on the Bermanator's fire.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

whats the downside? If he's trade bait then great. Walsh gets a guy w/ a mid 2nd round pick and he becomes a hot commodity? Thats how good players are aquired.

We all know Walsh phucked up the Jordan Hill pick but he's done a good job adding some pieces with guys like Landry, Douglas and Mosgov. 3 rotation guys he basically pulled out of his arse

Exactly, Ive seen this movie before, and I need to see a better version. Chandlers 2 to 4 game spurt and then the ninja act (where did he go) follows for another 4 games or so.
