Yeah he's practically on the cusp of being an all-star, if only the Clipps perform well. He is a beast.

People are already comparing him to Karl Malone - and the truth is that may be a legitimate comparison.

I'm not debating his skills or the potential for him to be truly great, but exactly how many games has he played in the NBA to date? Me thinks folks need to give it some time before we put the guy in the Hall of Fame, let alone compare him to Karl Malone.

Just sayin'.

That's a fair point, grillco. But sometimes you see a young player who just exudes greatness and you feel sure he's going to be a big star.

I guess some didnt see him play at Oklahoma. Dude is a BEAST. His only problem is his knees are suspect. He would have been the 2nd or 3rd pick in the 2008 draft is he hadnt messed up his knee during his freshman year.

I hope he can stay healthy for a few seasons at least.

Not the shooter Malone was, but then Malone could not drive to the hoope like Griffin. Griffin is also a smart player, and seems pretty unselfish.

I still see him as more of a SF beast type player than a true PF.

Duribility will be the key- he seems to end up on the floor a lot.

If he can develop a consistent mid-range game he will be pretty difficult to stop given his speed and strength.

i just see him getting injured over and over. he plays at a speed and with such explosion that i can't see his knees holding up. i don't wish him ill will, but he really reminds me of mcdyess in that he plays with a physicality i don't think his frame can handle. i hope he can succeed though... he's fun to watch.

Blake Griffin is a beast but he plays nothing like Karl Malone. The Mailman is not as explosive or athletic and Griffin isn't as skilled. Maybe Shawn Kemp/Amar'e Stoudemire is a better comparison?

I always felt like Karl just didn't WANT to drive to the basket. He was usually by far the biggest guy on court and could have cut a lane with just one of his shoulders, let alone two. But Griffin seems like he might a be a rich man's Camby, playing that very aggressive and athletic game that left him prone to injuries. Of course Marcus chilled and started playing 62 games or more per season pretty regularly, but certainly not early in his career.

Griff has to learn to let the game come to him. Similar to AR. These freaks can jump over everyone but have learn to preserve themselves cuz its a long season. Amare had to get that outside shot otherwise he would be cooked by now.

JOrdan did it, Hakeem did it, and of course ewing did it. Patrick was a athletic defensive freak who amazed everyone with how fast he developed his offensive game.

If they have to cover you outside life gets a whole lot easier to go in.

Last nite I thought Amare put the ball on the floor a bit too much. With Moz under the basket he could shoot more from outside.

He is an incredible physical specimen. At this point in his career he can dominate based on his strength and athleticism. I only got to see 15 minutes of the game last night but he was dominating. I don't see the Randolph comparison at all. He already is playing at an all star level. Will he learn the nuances of the game with age and experience? Absolutely. But he already is able to dominate and is playing like a star.

I was thinking the same thing. Its great that he is playing without fear after being out all last season but he also looks reckless
at times. Griffin is the real deal though, incredible mobility for a big man. Can do a spin move without missing a beat.
