If the team is kept as is perhaps with a bench enhancement along the way---Im going 53-29 I think we are big fast diverse and have potential to have lock down Defense--we have a low post dominant player and a really good fast PG who has become a better shooter and I like the diversity between that.

I like either r2 or conference finals

46 Wins. 6th Seed. 1st round against the #3 seed Orlando. The Knicks take Orlando to 7 games and... win in an upset on a Gallinari's 3 pt shot at the buzzer. Lose to the Celtics in 5 games in the conference semi-finals. Critics agree that if the Knicks had a deeper bench it is a different series.

With the expiring contract of Eddy Curry and the impending restricted free agency of Wilson Chandler, the Knicks finish the 2010/2011 season well poised to make a splash in 2011 free agency with their emerging core of Felton, Gallo, Randolph, Amare, and Mozgov. Gallo's ability to hang at SG becomes the most interesting topic of discussion. With all of the length on the court, Gallo is not a liability at SG because D'antoni puts Felton on the more athletic SGs and lets Gallo's height limit the effectiveness of opposing PGs, irrespective of their speed.

How are they going to win the championship if they stop playing after game 72? As far as your second comment goes, please add in "pause" next time lol.

So, I tried to estimate the wins for our new team assuming each player has a similar year to what they had last year, but with the minutes based upon my guess of D'antoni playing 9 guys.

2009 WS /48 /Game 10/11 Mins /Game 2010/11 W/S
Amare Stoudemire 10.7 0.181 0.003771 36 0.14 11.13
Ray Felton 6.5 0.118 0.002458 36 0.09 7.26
Danilo Gallinari 5.6 0.098 0.002042 32 0.07 5.36
Anthony Randolph 1.5 0.098 0.002042 28 0.06 4.69
Toney Douglas 2.2 0.097 0.002021 22 0.04 3.65
Ronnie Turiaf 1.4 0.078 0.001625 28 0.05 3.73
Roger Mason 1.9 0.062 0.001292 13 0.02 1.38
Wilson Chandler 2.7 0.057 0.001188 28 0.03 2.73
Kelenna Azubuike 0.7 0.148 0.003083 17 0.05 4.3
Bill Walker 1.9 0.123 0.002563 0 0
Landry Fields
Eddy Curry
Andy Rautins
Patrick Ewing Jr
Shawne Williams
Timofey Mozgov
2010 WINS: 44.21

I came up with 44 wins. You can assume if guys like Walker, Mozgov, Fields etc... are playing better than the guys who are in the rotation that they will take their place. I think that Chandler's WS numbers are pretty low, but if he stops jacking up threes, maybe those will improve (as will our win total). In fact, his and Mason's WS per minute are so low, they really shouldn't be playing, but let's assume the injuries last year are not a concern this year. Their numbers will either go up or they won't play. Azubuike's numbers are ridiculously high based upon a real small sample set. I didn't mark him down for many minutes due to the injury concerns, but I assume the other guys being below expectations and Azu being above expectations will somewhat even out.

Basically, if all things stayed the same, I would expect the Knicks to win 44 games.
If players develop and guys gel, that number will increase. If guys get injured or if Felton can handle the pace of the system, the numbers go down.

But, I stick to my 46 wins estimate, assuming Gallo will have a better year, Randolph will improve and all other guys will be about the same. Last year, that would have been 6th place in the east. I think it still is good for 6th place...

lol... too funny.

I have said 45 for some time. I'm upping that to 50-32.

As constructed the Knicks a team that will really be able to pad their win total beating up on the lower echelon teams. When your frontline is loaded with 6'10 players and up and you have good PG who is a very strong defender your going to be in good shape every night.

This is a team that can physically wear you down and can play above the rim. You can read between the lines with the coaches comments. He's keeping the enthusiasm curbed, but its pretty clear both he and the players know this team can do some damage
