According to the New York Daily News, all indications are that Carmelo Anthony has his sights set on landing with the Knicks.

"I give the Knicks a puncher's chance because everything I've heard from Carmelo's people is that his top choice is New York," Frank Isola reports. "His leverage is that he'll be a free agent on July 1."

IT all depends on how fearful the Nuggets are of losing him for nothing. The owners seem to be pretty tough. I read that they weren't too happy with Melo's people for being so vocal about all of this. They were basically saying we'll shut down and wait it out if they keep it up. Anyway, I just don't want to overpay to a team that clearly has no leverage anymore. They can forget any of our top players.

the knicks are his "first" choice.. not "only" choice... so what does that mean for the knicks? less leverage, and this team will be raped of every prospect we have.... if we do that, count me out... I have no desire to watch melo and amare and a bunch of mediocre players struggle to win 45 games... been there, done that...

how do you figure mediocre players, We have Felton, we could get Parker, we should be keeping either Danilo or Randolph, I dont see us given up both. Chandler must be moved in this scenario so we can get a true 2. Turiaf should still be here, plus the Russian, and we could get some better players with some savvy moves, and dont forget the MLE once we are over the cap with some serious talent. We have to go hard for Melo, bottom line.

since there will be other teams in the mix, you can count on both gallo and AR going out as well as chandler , that is a possiblity... we will be left with felton and amare as our best players of course, but bill walker and a bunch of second round picks is what I call mediocre players.... saying we can get this player and that player means nothing right now...

I like Melo and he is a top scorer who may get 30 a night with MDA, but at the expense of losing Gallo or AR or both, I say no.

I would take Melo depending on the package. But I would wait until you see what this team is. If the team does well then they will not be forced to make a move.

If Melo is saying there are other teams he's willing to go to, then forget about trading for him. Just wait until the Summer (Or after the lockout). At this point, Denver is certainly going to be asking for an enorous asking price, and it's not worth it. No need to gut your team for a player that hasn't taken any of his other talented teams to the championship. Wait until free agency, and then you can get him plus have your assets. There's no need not to be patient right here.

when have we been there & done that having 2 of the top 10 players in the NBA on the same team? & i'm not saying this to be sarcastic, i'm just curious cuz i can't think of a time since i've been following this team that that's happened.

IMO the time to be patient was last year when no one had any clue as to what Lebron's plans were... we gave up assets on a hope & a prayer that he'd want to sign here... if you're getting a player like Melo in a trade i think u have to do it, but obviously u don't give up every single asset you have... if u can keep at least 1 of Gallo or AR along w/Amare & Felton, i think that gives u a very good team to roll with after adding Melo.

I don't know TMS, we may feel differently on this, but to me, AR and Gallo both have pretty high ceilings, and giving up on these guys early would be foolish, especially considering that Melo will be a free agent. I don't see any reason NOT to be patient. Is getting Melo going to guarantee us a championship off the bat? No. So why not just wait, when we have both AR and Gallo AND can have Melo next Summer.

If he's so hellbent on getting a new contract with the Knicks, he'll wait. The number of years and dollars will be fine, with or without the new CBA.

Get Melo at all costs. Gallinari is not on his level, nor will he ever be.

what I mean is been there done that having a top player and not adequate help.. Ewing, Bernard king.... at this point doesn't matter if we have two top players if the help isn't adequate.... therefore.. been there, done that..

2/3 (Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Anthony Randolph) + Eddy Curry and a Future 1st for Carmelo Anthony. Get it done. I don't want to keep reading about this all season or watch Melo win 50 with Denver while we struggle to win 40 and watch Gallo and Randolph not reach these unrealistic expectations.

yeah but we've never had 2 top players on the same team... history shows u can get deep into the playoffs w/2 top players & a decent supporting role player cast... it's not like Ray Felton is a scrub, he's solid, & like i said if u can still hold onto at least 1 of Gallo or AR, you have another good player to play w/those guys... the rest of the bench could be made up of guys like Fields, Buke, Turiaf & Walker & you'd still make the playoffs & probably have a good chance to advance... it's not a guaranteed championship winning team but it's getting there... right now what do we have with what we have now? do u really see us winning championships w/this current cast? i don't.

I would love to see him win 50 with Denver because that would mean that we could pick him up as a free agent.
