hey man, i would love to have j. craw here. he's exactly the type of exciting player the knicks need. if we can get him for a guy like moochie, othella, doleac, shandon, or a combo of two, i would do it in a heart beat. young talent and i think that thomas can help him find the right direction.

I guess it would be cool to have the Crawman on the team but wouldn't he be in the same situation as FWill is in right now (getting not enough minutes)?

It makes sense if there is a deal on the table to move Houston that we don't know about....

an old bumped and bruised guy like penny (did you see what he shot last night) and guy like shandon, and guy like othella, and a guy like moochie, lenny can afford for them to sit for a young, dramatic, anigmatic, electiric, up and coming star like j. craw. bring him here and let isiah mentor him also. obviously if isiah made the offer, he wants him and thinks can help the knicks so he must have a plan. i'd get rid of houston, van horn, kurt. for a guy like that. obviously those trade are not pissible

I think Zeke is working on a rotation that would see Crawford coming off the bench for either Houston or Marbury and the three of them rotating at the two guard positions. That would clear up some more room for Hardaway to rotate with Van Horn and Thomas at the two forward spots. I really like Crawford but he wouldn't see a lot of minutes and i can't see him happy as a back-up combo guard for the next few years. I actually think Miles would fit us better right now, as well as Wilcox, Gooden, Swift, or someone of that form.

swift and gooden are the guys i most like in that list
gooden is a kenyon type player and swift is just my favorite dunker in the nba, he rebounds too.

why would the bulls want houston?

unless:

houston for: crawford, robinson (cap dump), pippen (cap dump)

talk about a log jam at SF. We'd have Van Horn, Anderson, Hardaway, Pippen and Robinson there.

isiah has mentioned it a lot of times. "he looks at players, not position".
Isiah: longjam? i don't see no logjam, i see players

ISIAH EYES CRAWFORD

By MARC BERMAN

January 19, 2004 -- When Jamal Crawford torched the Knicks for 28 points at the Garden three weeks ago, it prompted Isiah Thomas to make the Stephon Marbury move to upgrade the point-guard position. Now he's getting greedy. The Knicks' prez wants the athletic Bulls point guard, too.

A recent report out of Chicago had Isiah making an offer for Crawford, who can play both point and shooting guard and can be on the floor with Marbury. Former Knicks GM Scott Layden also pursued Crawford, but he was infamous for making measly offers that insulted the intelligence of the competing GM.

For Thomas to pull this off, insiders say he'd have to take on a bad contract while giving up a player he likes — such as Kurt Thomas — thus adding more to the long-term payroll. It would seem a stretch. Crawford makes just $2.5 million and there isn't a comparable player making that on the Knicks.

Like he did with Penny Hardaway, Thomas may have to inherit a player with a hideous contract — such as Jerome Williams, who has three years and $18M left after this season — or Antonio Davis (two years, $25M left).

Thomas religiously had shopped Shandon Anderson, but his pact is one of the worst in basketball. However, Thomas did manage to trade Howard Eisley and Clarence Weatherspoon.

The low-level pawns the Bulls would have interest in are Othella Harrington, Frank Williams, Michael Doleac (only because his contract expires) and possibly first-round pick Michael Sweetney.

Thomas' pursuit of Crawford shows he's still focused on the broad picture of building a championship team.

*

Isiah has shown some interest in signing recently cut Cavs center Bruno Sundov of Croatia to a 10-day contract. Isiah had the 7-2 project in Indiana.

Anderson is out of Lenny Wilkens' rotation, so his league-high consecutive games streak of 541 is ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^endangered. Wilkens put Anderson in with 1:51 left against the Bulls Saturday to keep the streak alive.

unless this is part of a bigger trade, it doesn't make sense.

we need to solidify interior d and athleticism.

marbury and houston can play virtually an entire game, so the need for a backup pg is not the burning issue. of course its always nice to have insurance...but theres more important things.

crawford's sick, but he wouldn't be an upgrade at all defensively. I know isiah loves his athleticism though.

Crawford has had stretches of brilliance in his young career. Coming out of college, he was touted as the 2nd coming of Penny Hardaway. He's a pretty deadly offensive weapon, with the ball handling skills of a PG.

If we're looking to build a team of the future, locking up a backcourt of Crawford/Marbury would be sweet. However, Allan Houston has a massive contract and looks like he'll be part of the team for the duration of the deal.

i like how the Knicks are built now, though moving into the future, we probably could stand to acquire a young bigman to develop-- with Penny/Houston/Marbury/Shandon/Moochie/FW, we're pretty deep at guard for at least the next 2 seasons.

The "rumor" emanated from the Chicago Sun-Times.

The deal probably won't happen. Most trades that actually go down are the ones that no one, except the parties, knew were being discussed.

Until he totally messes up, I'm supportive of whatever Isiah decides is in the best interests of the team.

It might be that Thomas is tryin to pry the package of Crawfard along with either Curry or Chanlder for Houston and takin on as many bad bulls contrats to make it all work. That is why the Bulls are hesitant. But Paxon is realy upset with Crawfard and Curry both, and they have let go of Brand before, there is a 1 in a million chance of that kind of deal happening. I'd love to get Curry and Crawfard for Houston, both buys are gonna be stars at 2 and 1 for yeasr to come for us. Next year would be dynomite with a lineup of:
C Curry/Doleac (Deke retires or something)
PF Thomas/Sweetney (or the other way around depending on how far Sweetney has developed)
SF Van Horn/Penny this is our veteran spot, keeps the team steady
SG Crawfard/Penny/sign a guy/draft
PG Steph/Williams note Williams can also play SG with Steph
That is a team wit ALOT of upside.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I like that lineup somewhat...

I don't think that Mutombo should just be tossed aside, though. He could still contribute next year- the last year of that little contract of his.

Between Curry, Deke and Doleac, we'd be solid at the 5 spot.

We'd have to take on ALOT of money in trash players if we're gonna trade Allan for those cats. IMO Isiah wouldn't do that since he just took out the garbage on this roster in the 3 weeks he's been here.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

DOn't know if that would happen. If Zeke is loooking to trade H20 just to get back Crawford and Curry, They would have to take back Antonio Davis or Jerome Williams and possibly give Chicago Kurt thomas and/or Sweetney.

DAMN!! If this ever go down, this trade will make Marbury's deal look like a baseball minor league deal.

I had tried this trade on realgm but i don't think paxson would unload both Curry and Crawford altogether but you never know>>>

If Curry comes to Knicks, Aguirre, the knicks assistant would make that dude Curry one of the most lethal dominating post-up player in the whole league.
