Wanted to get people's take on a possible trade I have thought about and has also been floating around rumor forums. A sign and trade deal with the Lakers; Kobe to the Knicks for Houston and Thomas? I think it would obviously benefit both teams, kobe wants out of la and would love the big city, plus houston and thomas would fit well in la.
also is kmart signed with the nets? he's no center, but a very athletic pf that would complement marbury, van horn and possible kobe/houston combo they have now. they need to get more athletic defensively!

kmart will not only be asking too much, but he and kvh hate eachother. and with good reason too, kenyon's an a**hole!

As much as I can't stand Kenyon, I'd take him over KVH in a second.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Speaking of trades, this one is still a possibility...

Wallace loves New York, sez former Knick

By FRANK ISOLA
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

CHICAGO - A former teammate of Rasheed Wallace says that the Portland power forward is intrigued by the possibility of joining the Knicks.
"Who wouldn't love it?" said Bulls guard Rick Brunson, a former Knick. "The more he keeps hearing about the Knicks the more he wants it to happen. But nobody knows what Portland is going to do."Brunson and Wallace are longtime friends who were teammates in Portland, most recently two years ago. The Blazers are entertaining offers for Wallace, who becomes a free agent this summer.

The Knicks likely would have to trade Keith Van Horn to make a deal work for Wallace, although the Blazers would prefer to have Kurt Thomas included in a potential swap. Portland has had ongoing discussions with Dallas about a possible Wallace-for-Antawn Jamison swap.

The trading deadline is Feb. 19. If Wallace isn't moved within the next month, Portland can either sign him this summer or use him in a sign-and-trade.

"I think a trade would do a lot for his career," said Brunson, who speaks regularly to Wallace. "A lot of people thought Latrell (Sprewell) was finished but look at what has happened to his career since the Knicks traded him to Minnesota."

What's the truth in this article? It sounds like

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=stein_marc&id=1711380

The Mavericks, sources said, were informed Saturday evening that Portland will not accept a package of Antawn Jamison and Tariq Abdul-Wahad. Separate sources indicate that the Mavericks are not willing to make a move for Wallace unless Abdul-Wahad is included and are now prepared to move on with their season as the roster stands.

"It sounds like everything with Dallas is dead," one source said. "The owner wants to keep 'Sheed."

John Nash said he wants to keep Sheed... But it was reported on ESPN TV that the Dallas trade may still happen as early as today. We'll see. IMO Messiah Thomas can still make it happen.

. . .

Ailing Wallace remains on trading block

As Rasheed Wallace recovers from an ankle injury, the Blazers are continuing to listen to trade offers. Dallas is still the one team that has expressed the most interest, with Antawn Jamison heading up the Mavs' proposed package. But the Knicks aren't out of the mix. The ankle strain apparently isn't all that bad. Although Wallace missed four straight games, Portland GM John Nash has been telling colleagues that if these were playoff games, he'd have been on the court....

Sheed can definitely replace Thomas's defense. The man guards Shaq/Duncan. So I'd rather trade KT for him but not KVH who's younger and might finally be playing up to his potential. Maybe KT + Frank + 2nd rounder gets it done.

if we don't do anything I hope we can somehow get Jermaine O'neal or Elton Brand in the offseason. Then I wouldn't mind losing KVH.

Anybody want Jamal Crawford???

Despite adding Marbury, Knicks make an offer for Crawford

January 18, 2004

Bulls operations chief John Paxson is weighing an offer from the New York Knicks for guard Jamal Crawford, according to a league source.

It's not certain whom the Knicks are offering, and the news is surprising considering New York's backcourt appears to be set with recently acquired point guard Stephon Marbury and shooting guard Allan Houston. Crawford can play either guard position.

Paxson and Knicks operations chief Isiah Thomas discussed Crawford before Thomas traded for Marbury on Jan. 5, according to a source, who indicated Crawford's name has come up in discussions with other teams.

Crawford, 23, is in his fourth year and will be a restricted free agent after this season, meaning the Bulls could match any offer. Crawford, who scored 20 points on 7-for-17 shooting Saturday against the Knicks, is the Bulls' leading scorer at 16.8 points a game and has carried the offensively challenged Bulls to victory on a couple of occasions with huge scoring nights. He scored 28 in a victory at New York on Jan. 2, and he scored 72 in back-to-back victories at Cleveland on Dec. 26 and against Washington the next night.

After acquiring Marbury, Thomas mentioned Crawford as an elite guard in the NBA.

''If you expect to make the playoffs and compete for a championship, you've got to have an outstanding point guard like Jason Kidd, Jamal Crawford, Baron Davis, Steve Nash or Stephon Marbury,'' Thomas said.

But Crawford's defensive lapses have landed him on the bench at times, and it sometimes seems as though he'll never find a comfortable role with the Bulls.

After the Bulls' home loss to Portland on Jan. 9, Paxson tore into Crawford and Eddy Curry in the locker room. Paxson later apologized and discussed the matter with Arn Tellem, who represents both players.

Asked how he felt about the incident, Crawford said he wanted to keep the matter in-house.

But Crawford said recently he still maintains hope he will stay with the Bulls and help the organization turn things around.

''I'm still happy, more than ever,'' Crawford said Thursday. ''I want to stay here, and I feel they want me, too.

''They haven't told me anything different, so I feel I'm going to be a big part of their future plans. Right now, I'm just focused on this season and finishing strong.''

We know about that one, I originally posted the discussion between Isiah and PAxson regarding a trade for Crawford.. here it was!!

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/
"The Bulls could be granted a roster spot when a contract settlement is reached with Jay Williams, although that's not guaranteed and the free-agent pool is thin anyway."

"Also don't be surprised if Paxson discusses possible deals with former rival and new Knicks President Isiah Thomas. The Knicks long have coveted Crawford, but former general manager Scott Layden consistently offered lopsided trades. With Thomas in charge, expiring salaries like Charlie Ward and Antonio McDyess could be attractive to the Bulls in the right package."

Oh, I saw that thread but I don't believe I read it. Since this thread lists all transaction ideas and it had yet to be mentioned here, I posted the article.

By the way, the article I posted was just published today. Updated news...

I read that one. They're(the paper) just reiterating what has been discussed between Zeke and Paxson. Their conservation for a trade never died out. It has been going on for some time now. With the subtractions of McDyess and Ward going elsewhere, a deal is unlikely.

Knicks no longer have any assets that would look appealing to Chicago. They don't even want Sweetney cause they have about four PFs. on the team.

Thats what i want to know??? What would they do with Crawford??? The Backcourt is already set and Crawford has a tendency of not playing good defense during games. He would end up on the bench..

Remember Zeke said he wants ballplayers not guys that just play one position. Now if we got rid of Frank for him I would accept it, because crawford would do damage from all over the court and Frank could go home to Chicago and show the league he knows how to play pg.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

That wouldn't happen because Skiles and the Bulls are really high on Hinrich at the PG spot.

Kore you would take that punk Martin over KVH, cmon man, him and Jefferson are the most hateable players other then Shaq and Kobe. Give KVH some props btw he's been doing amazing for the last 20 games. I loved Spree and hated the trade but right now it looks like it is working, ofcourse we have to see what happens in the playoffs (granted we make them lol and we will hehe).
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
