NBA TV will announce key nationally broadcasted games for the 2010-21 NBA season Tuesday at 7 p.m. In the past, the league would just release the schedule in a memo, but in the age of TV specials (i.e.The Decison), everything has become an event. So in a special program, NBA TV will reveal which teams will be featured during ESPN and TNT's opening week coverage, as well as Christmas Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day matchups. One source told Starting Blocks that the Miami Heat will open the season at The Q against the Cleveland Cavaliers. If that's true, it will be like the Baltimore Ravens first game in Cleveland against the new Browns.

If I were the people in charge of this, I would make sure that the security at Cleveland was as strong as it could possibly be at any sporting event. If they are throwing crap at LeBron fans at an Indians game, just figure how it would be here.

So true Marv!

LOL if they thought "The Decision" would draw viewers...I can only imagine what this game would draw.

It's all good so long as it doesn't turn violent. That would just take the fun out of it.

LeBron will be protected for sure. I think the fans have it worse actually. I knew someone who's wife got stabbed at an Eagles game b/c she was wearing Giants gear. The most ridiculous thing I ever heard. (..btw she's ok now!)

Not very smart to wear a Giants jersey or Foreskins or Cowgirls jersey at an Iggles game. Thugs personafied.

The Knicks will open the 2010-11 season the way they ended the 2009-10 season; with a game in Toronto.

A team source tells The Daily News that the Knicks will face the Raptors on Oct. 27 and will play their home opener three days later against Portland.

The preliminary schedule also has the Knicks hosting Chicago on Christmas Day. As for the big game - Miami - LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh make their Garden debut on Dec. 17 and return Jan. 27.

The Cavs should have some kind of chalk on the Miami bench with some kind of corrosive element or itching powder in it in case Princess James mistakenly believes he is still a Cav, and inadvertently does his pre-game chalk ceremony.

By the way, it would seem to me that the NBA is really rubbing it into Cleveland's face by making this the opening game for James following "the decision."

Should we believe that their decision was just a coincidence?

I think you are right - and that the NBA is making a BIG mistake making this the opening game. They will get a large TV audience, but the NBA, by doing this, is setting the ground for some deep trouble from the Cleveland fans. I hope they just boo Lebron and there is no violence but geez, why have this the opening game?

The NBA is all about marketing and this matchup would be hard not to watch for even a casual fan. I don't like the way things have gone or the marketing of the big teams but this is to be expected.

Ugly is not strong enough a word to describe that game. So goes the Revenge Of Stern

They could have scheduled the game for Miami and not riled the Cleveland fans right at the beginning of the season. The TV viewership would still have been huge. And maybe Miami fills all of their seats....or maybe not. Does anyone in Miami care?

If it were up to me, I'd do a promotion. Not quite bobble heads- thinking more like 'D Battery' give away night!

What about battery operated bobble heads which run on an included C battery?...

C batteries not only fit better in a young child's hand, so they can vent their anger, but the battery bobble heads promotion also give the Cav's ownership and its marketing branch some plausible deniability when the NBA investigates the assault and "battery" of James that would probably occur at that point in the game where the Cavs no longer have a chance to win.

Ratings. Just biz. Viewership and hype to begin a season is rare. Gotta remember world series is occurring and smack dab in the middle of football season.
