At the urging of Rudy Fernandez and his agent, the Trail Blazers have engaged in accelerated trade discussions to deal the disgruntled, once-popular shooting guard to one of three Eastern Conference teams.

Boston, Chicago and New York are all in the running to land the 6-foot-6 Spaniard, who set an NBA rookie record two seasons ago by making 159 three-pointers.

Some of the teams interested in Fernandez have offered a future first round draft pick, while other offers would pair Fernandez with another Blazers player, but agent Andy Miller would not get into specifics.

They will want one of our young players and/or rookies. I think they will ask for Bill Walker or Fields + Jordan. I wouldn't give up Walker for Rudy. Giving up the rookies would be interesting if it could be Rautins + Jordan, but I don't think Portland does that.

Rautins for Rudy and that is it. We might be giving up to much in this deal too. Rudy isn't that good.

Agreed. I don't get why we have such a hard-on for Rudy Fernandez. What exactly is he good at?

3 pt shot....and foul shooting. You are right, he isn't that good, but Rudy would fit in this offense coming off the bench.

Edit- In thinking about it more, if Azubuike is healthy, we don't need Rudy.

I know he is a rookie but wasn't that why Rautins was brought in. At this time Azu is better than Rudy, I truly believe that Fields has already surpassed Rudy. That is why I wouldn't waste time on Rudy. Pass.

I get the feeling that Rudy would complain about his minutes here as well. I also want to see what Fields can do.

No thanks to Rudy. We need to stand pat and start evaluating all the work done so far in building a team.

Why is everyone sweating bill walker, I would trade him with a 2nd rndr..rudy is a really good shooter, and has a higher IQ then billy..he can also slash and finish, there almost equal

walker lost me in SL, he just look lost out there, and I have a feeling thats going to be the theme for him this season

I suggest you go look at Rudy's stats and reevaluate the real good shooter part. He is an awful shooter and his slashing skill result in missed shots. Don't buy the hype on this chump of a player.

Sadly Fernandez just isnt that good. Only team I can see willing to give up a first rounder is Boston.

Im ok with chandler until a better option becomes available.

Agreed. Right now we have all the parts necessary to start the season. It would be a mistake to start subtracting talent for shaky Fernandez.

Blazers Actively Looking to Deal Fernandez

We mentioned a source saying that Rudy would be “either a Bull or a Knick” on draft night. I can’t say what has held up discussions from the Knicks getting a deal done other than it apparently will take more than Wilson Chandler to get the deal done.

"More than Wilson Chandler" ....That is absolutely crazy. Chandler is twice the player Rudy is. No way that goes down.

Rudy was good in his first year, terrible in his second. The benefits of getting him are that he is/was a great 3 point shooter and can slash/drive. More importantly he might have playmaker skills, which could solve our lack of backup PG- maybe he'd be a good player to play alongside Tony Douglas. So he might be a better fit for us than Bill Walker- we have too many SF on this team. However the big drawbacks are that he was crap last year, and whined a lot wanting more minutes, shots, and being unhappy at being a 20min back up 2 guard- which is the only role I'd give him on this team. He had quite a few injuries last year too, including a back injury. On top of that he can leave for Spain at any point if he isn't pleased with his role. Also he's a bad defender, and I'd kind of like us to put the days of getting 1 way players behind us.

So overall I'd like him instead of Bill Walker, I think he'd be a better fit and is talented, at least on paper. However in reality he probably won't accept the role he'd be good at, so there's not really much point in trading for him.

LOL. Rudy has not fallen off that much. He still has the potential to be a solid player. I would consider a Walker for Rudy swap. I however would not give up Chandler for him. Chandler is a much better player.

anyone who saw rudy play in the olympic games would know that he doesn't suck. yeah, the guy had a rough go of it in portland and he plays a more international style of basketball and has had trouble adjusting to the nba style. lucky for him, there are a few teams in this league that have offenses that will suit his style of play - the knicks being one of them.

im all for bringing rudy here.

Im scared that Dolan does not like Chandler and he has the execution notice on his head. I consider Chandler a Joe Johnson type hog from the Suns circa 2005--if they change that for Rudy F I will drop us down to 45--that will be a HUGE step back a big loss
