What do you expect Gallo's numbers to be this season, many said those guys and Duhon didn't give him the rock enough. 18-20 pts a game ?

The biggest variable in this equation is the subtraction of Dudu.

20 could be easy for Gallo this year but we have a lot of scoring on this team
so maybe 17 is more realistic with Felton handling rock and Amare first option
17 would be huge for Gallo this year

7 rebounds and 3 assists a steal and a block

I'll say that sounds right

Much more realistic, IMO.

I just don't see us having another 20+PPG guy on the team beside Amare at this point, and I think Felton will spread the ball around so it is doubtful that 2 guys average over 20PPG.
I also think we have a lot of guys on the team who are not going to be overly concerned if they are playing on a winning team but not putting up All-Star stats, and that is generally how the MDA teams have done in terms of scoring.

To be honest, if Gallo is averaging 20+ with Amare, there is a scoring imbalance going on, IMO.

Even Nash has never averaged over 20 PPG with the Suns, by the way.

Below is MDA's Suns team from 2006-7, which averaged 110.2 PPG- it is representative of the MDA years, when anywhere from 5-7 players would be scoring in double figures.

Rk Player Age A G GS MP FG FGA PTS
1 Amare Stoudemir 24 82 78 32.8 7.4 12.9 20.4
2 Steve Nash 32 76 76 35.3 6.8 12.8 18.6
3 Leandro Barbosa 24 80 18 32.7 6.6 13.9 18.1
4 Shawn Marion 28 80 80 37.6 7.0 13.4 17.5
5 Raja Bell 30 78 78 37.4 5.3 12.2 14.7
6 Boris Diaw 24 73 59 31.1 4.2 7.8 9.7
7 James Jones 26 76 7 18.1 2.1 5.8 6.4

i cld see the points distribution going something like this:

amare = 24
felton = 18
gallo = 15

the rest of the squad divying up the remaining 40-50 points

Gallo scored 15PPG last year with Hughes, Harrington, Nate, Tmac and a pretty poor PG.

yup, i know. with the additions the knicks made, i dont see him getting much more than that. lots of kids on the squad who can shoot the ball and if felton does his job the right way (sorry had to get a larry reference in there) there will be alot of guys with 8-10 points per on this squad. which is a very good thing b/c it means you have mulitpile options and dont rely on a few guys to bail you out night in and night out like years past.

now, that is to say nothing about his talent level or progression, i think gallo will be even better than he was last year assuming his back holds up - which every indication is that it will. i just dont see how else the points get distributed around. i dont think points alone is an indication of someone getting better, rather, i thik it will be how he gets his points and how he uses his body in other aspects of the game. with that said, what i think we'll see out of gallo this year will be this type of uptick:

2009: PPG 15.1 RPG 4.90 APG 1.7
2010: PPG 15 RPG 6-7 APG 3

oh, and he even looks smarter than last year too:

If he scored 15 pts a game and didn't get the ball much as many here was complaining about all year long.

Why was 18-20 out of reach and not realistic, what's with this 15 pts a game stuff ?

Are you saying the kid will defer to all the newbies and score less with a better distributing pg who can break his man down way better than duhon ? What happen to drive and kick open 3

why does this matter? to me it doesn't. if the knicks are winning consistently and he scores 12ppg, i'm fine with that.

... and more importantly, I don't think Gallinari would care either, as long as he felt that he was contributing everything he could to the team.

Evil, why are you so negative. All last yr the complaint was the knicks would be better if they would pass gallup the ball more. Now he will potentially have more touches and a real pg and you say who cares ?

Who cares ? His fans care that he get off this yr that's who. Sounds like you and a few other thinks he's going to defer or not get the ball this much with all the new faces. Why all the hesitant optimisim with a real pg and no more black hole 1 yr contract players like Hughes , Lee , Harrington.

I think we may be giving felton too much credit. 18 feels right. Chandler feels like the odd man out in our offense
Let's go Knicks. That's amare
