THIS IS AWESOME for the Knicks! Al will drive Carmelo so nuts that there is no way he would want to stay on that team.

Donnie still making the right moves behind the scenes? Or did the Most Interesting Man force this trade?

Whichever, it's still good for the Knicks.

Nuggets are looking for a PF and they sign an undersized SF instead.

So this is a Mid-level exception signing??

A pity that teams are "forced" against their will to pay players like Harrington this much. Those poor, cash strapped, teams.

The MLE is what's screwing teams under this CBA, though they have only themselves to blame. Too many teams are throwing the full MLE at players who don't deserve it simply because they have it and it seems to them to be the only way to improve, and it ends up with them having salary cap problems. I'm against a hard cap in the new CBA, instead I think the negotiations should mainly focus on sorting out the MLE, maybe shortening it to 2 or 3 years.

I thought it was funny that Al was saying he just wants to win now, and play for a winner, and yet the reason why he signed with the Nuggets (who have big problems if Carmelo leaves) over the Mavs was because he'll get to start- he still wants to be the man! I don't like this move for the Nuggets, the contracts too long and he plays too selfishly to fit in well with Carmelo and JR. But hopefully he drives Carmelo out of town...

I agree with this.....3 years for the MLE should be the Max length. After all, it is an "exception" to the cap. Not supposed to be a BIG contract.

Re: Al - I like Al....if he were coming off the bench.....and not playing for the Knicks. Al can shoot and score. He can score 10 points in a couple of minutes and re-ignite an offense. Perfect 6th man. He also plays hard. But he doesn't pass much which is why I am glad he is not staying here. He is also 30 years old, and while he hasn't had major injuries, 5 years is too long of a contract at his age.

Al single-handedly won a number of games for us these past 2 years when we stunk. He made things interesting. I wish Al good luck.

And Al lost a few games for us. I will always remember Al's long "hang time"!

Al Harrington can help replace some of the scoring in Denver when they trade Carmelo Anthony to us. :)

nice game vs the jazz. the thing that i love about randolph is how hard he plays on both sides of the floor - whether it's a putback offensively or a big defensive board, ar gives his all no matter what. love to see that kind of determination. the kid is supremely talented - if he ever knocks down the 18footer with confidence and ease, forget about it, he'll be impossible to guard.

Al did some good things for us, he wanted to be here but that is not to be. As a complementary player he would be fine with a strong team and maybe a different coach. I wish him well.

No this is not good. Players stick together. Harrington will be bending Carmello's ear telling him just how bad the Knicks management is and D'Antonis no defense and how he treat players is.
I trully beleive Carmello ain't coming. We need to stop dreaming and get real by building through the draft and developing young players. We had that but then we chased them all away.

Good for Al. I find this much less vile than some of the overpays we've seen this offseason. Al Harrington is a solid role player. Best of luck to him in Denver.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I still don't get how people look at our roster and say we aren't building properly. If we had drafted we could not have fielded a team that has as many players that are good but still have upside. There have been some teams that have been in the lottery for years that don't look as young and potential laden as ours

I just hope that people will like me

That is such a dumb contract. How many minutes a game is he going to get over there? Ten?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Papabear, we're gonna see what kind of team we have when they roll out the balls this year. If two or three guys are playing agressive D, maybe it becomes contagious. It sure happened in reverse.

I think Al is a nice fit for them. I think the preference in Denver is to have Martin play the 4 but he is so damaged from injuries it is hard to see him playing more than 70 games. Al has size and is different from their other bigs in that he is a scorer and can hit the outside shot. Nene, K-Mart and Anderson all have different games. Harrington won't have to be the man in Denver and will be playing with a competent point guard and hopefully a great coach.

Yup. Folks should just imagine that we drafted the guys we now have- not a hard thing to do.

This Knicks team, as constituted, could play together 5/6 years and be a competitive unit, if that is what management chooses to do, and if Gallo and Randolph actually reach full potential, we will have 2 stars who can be productive players for the next 10 years anchoring our front line.

Curry- 2001 #4 27
Amare- 2002 #9 27
Turiaf- 2005 #37 27
Felton- 2005 #5 26
Azubuike- 2005 -- 26
Chandler- 2007 #23 23
Gallinari- 2008 #6 22
Randolph- 2008 #14 21
Walker- 2008 #47 22
Douglas- 2009 #29 24
Fields- 2010 #38 22
Rautins- 2010 #37 23
Jordan- 2020 #44 24
Mosgov- 2020 -- 24

Team age- 23.9 without Curry (Age as of start of season)

im with ya bip. if we had rebuilt, there's no chance we'd have a team of amar'e, gallo, felton and randolph. i don't care what anyone says, that's an awesome core. it's obviously missing a #1 guy, but we'll see how guys pan out and we'll have the cap-space and flexibility to attain one.
