So i guess the plan is move forward with the intention of getting Melo with max cap space next year. Doesn't look like they will go after Parker because seems like they are comfortable with Felton for now. It definitely feels good to be a much better team than we've been in a long time and still have room for a max player moving forward.

Well we have 13 spots taken--next we have to see the SL to see what we have or don't have.

Yeah, we are looking good capwise if it all shakes out as it seems it will. Depending on how good Felton can be the Knicks should definitely be in strong playoff contention and hopefully begin to gel as a team. Some very nice looking pieces there and then room to add a max. Considering we lost out on LBJ, I'm feeling pretty optimistic. It would appear that Walsh prepared and executed a solid plan B.

When did the Knicks sign any of the 2nd round picks. That is highly unusual since many 2nd round picks don't even make the team. I mean they normally see them in SL.

If you are counting available dollars, you can add the $473K to the remaining cap space. If we are over the cap with 12 players, we can still give out minimum contracts (the $473K for 1st year players).

You can use the same number as a cap hold until you hit 12 roster spots, if you would like...

With the cap space we have left--can we S+T Harrington to Orlando and get back what Toronto and Clev did--in terms of a TPE and picks? Or maybe we can get Ryan Andersen from them? He would fit in here with is outside shot

I thought that Orlando's traded player exception expired on July 8th --- yesterday...

We'd have to take back roughly matching salary.

That's what I was looking at with those 2nd round pick cap holds. If that's the case then I guess the Knicks could move on. Al is looking for more than the MLE.

Al Harrington was renounced so we wont be signed and traded.

Walsh said we're basically done for the summer. We're saving the cap space + Curry's deal for next summer or possibly the trade deadline. Maybe we'll add a few guys for the minimum though.

Thank god.

The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

Felton

6. Raymond Felton, Bobcats

Agrees in principle with Knicks (3 years, $25 million)

The Knicks have added a few new forwards in Amare Stoudemire and Anthony Randolph and now needed to address their backcourt. Felton isn't ideal, but he was the best point guard left on the board.

Make that 3/25 since that's a MSG site

You can still sign and trade a renounced player. From Coon FAQ--

"After renouncing a player, a team can still trade the player in a sign-and-trade agreement"

An interesting note from that, if we re-signed Harrington using cap space, next year he would be a Larry Bird Free agent again... not sure that it matters, but it is an interesting wrinkle. We could give him a 1 yr $6M deal without much implications.

Al Harrington is garbage. He's not needed here.

I think he has some value. At the right price, I would take him, especially on a one year deal. He could be valuable at the trade deadline.
