The landscape has changed...The Superstars are now wise to the game...They are calling the shots by signing three year contracts...The Knicks needs to move forward...Carmelo wants to come here next year...Carmelo is trying to recruit CP3...The Knicks need to bring in people who can relate to today's players...LeBron met with the Nets and JayZee, the Heat with Riley and Donnie came to the interview in a wheelchair...

SAS the night prior predicted LeBron to the Heat...He said he heard players say it would have been different if Isiah was in NY, crazy as it sounds...Today's players need people to connect with, Donnie isn't that, MDA isn't that...The Knicks need to bring in people who are respected and who the players can relate to...Bring Mark Jackson here in some capacity, I always thought Oakley should have been involved some capacity...

The Knicks can't drop the ball again...This could be their last shot to add players to compete with the likes of Miami...The Knicks need to put a front office together now that would make Carmelo and CP3 feel comfortable coming here...Donnie in a wheelchair just isn't a good look for the Knicks...People applauded the MDA hire saying players will come here to play for him, a myth...It's time to move on...

But honestly, Walsh was always brought in to clean up the mess and give us a clean slate. He did that and more. He also was an advisor not the key guy making all the moves here.

So the dislike isn't realistic.

He was always going to step aside once he found a good GM to take the reigns anyways. I think too many fans still have no idea what Donnie's role was to be and has been in all of this. There's a lot of guys behind the scenes that he brought in to get us to where we are.

If Walsh sat on his hands we would have a clean slate in 2011 with our draft picks...U don't see a problem with having guys being brought in to do the pitch for the Knicks...Or to do Donnie's job???

It was his job to clean up the Knicks.

He did that.

He did it in time to give us a shot at the best FA crop in recent history.

He did that.

The failure would have been to PREVENT us from having a shot at these guys.

And, no, I don't have a problem with the guys brought in to do the pitch to the free agents. They did their job. The players chose to go elsewhere.

No, I don't have a problem with Donnie being a Team President and then bringing in well known NBA talent managers to execute his plan.

This is called business.

If you're suggesting things were run poorly I think you don't understand how an NBA franchise works. Team Presidents run their team of guys. The team of guys make things happen. Just like any other business.

Donnie did marvelous work here to get us to where we're at.

If the Knicks misses this chance to land Carmelo after he said he wants to be here, it's unforgivable...Donnie failed in closing the deal...FAILED!!!, let's not forget that...

Donnie has done a great job. He can't make up Lebron's mind for him. He put us in position up to the last minute in the Bronstakes and got has rebuilt our frontline while preserving cap room.

I love what he's done. I hope he stays. I hope he hires Kevin Pritchard to be his GM and leaves the team in good hands... that's what i'm most worried about if donnie leaves...

Compare today's roster with the roster Walsh took over. He now has two lottery picks from the Gallo draft, a five time all star up front, cap flexibility, one of the younger rosters in the league with tremendous upside potential vs the roster he took over Old, lazy, overpaid and strangling flexibility. Which one do you prefer the one he took over or the one we have now?????

He "cleaned up the mess" by giving up a lottery pick an 3 1st round draft picks (with the result so far being simply that we were in a position to offer $100 million to Amare). Does that really deserve so much credit?

I support DWalsh. He made the right moves. Now that the three players decided to sign with the same team, you can't call for Donnie's head...

+1

Look at our roster right now. Its a group of young skilled athletic uptempo guys. I love the direction of the team right now. Long athletic skilled 2-way players at every position.

he needs to finish what he started & deliver on what he promised when he took this job... he sold us all a bag of goods & talked about having options & flexibility... let's see him do something with those options & flexibility now... no more excuses.

Now it's 4 first round picks we gave up?

Need to brush up on your math and evaluation ability there I think.

Jordan Hill - TRASH
Jared Jeffries - TRASH
2011 SWAP - A SWAP we still have a 1st rounder no matter what.
2012 PICK - The LONE pick we gave up.

Come'on now.

The guy failed. Dudes are trying to spin paying Amare the max with no other superstar as being a positive thing.

ESPN and the national media are going to rip Walsh and D'Antoni apart anyway.

Who is making excuses? Excuses about what? I don't follow.

See him do something? Probably going to see him retire due to recurring cancer that is killing him.

Watch how deadly Kevin Pritchard will be with these assets and Dolan's pocketbook.

Don't really see the problems here other than LeBron decided to go to Miami instead of come to the Knicks.

We got a great clean slate, some very good youth, plenty of money to spend.

Where's the downside?

and unlike previous management the ONE pick we are giving up has top 5 protection, and ALWAYS has top 5 protection. If disaster strikes and we win the lottery or a top pick we arent losing it because of some sh!tty trade (Curry, Marbury).

I think you're conveniently ignoring some other steps in the cleanup process. That's not a very good summary of the actual results. That being said, I think it's fair to argue the Jordan Hill part. Look, that only happens if we were sure we had LeBron. Obviously, we were sure, but the information was bad. I don't fault him for going all out because of the confidence. The Jordan Hill trade obviously did not work out. In retrospect, I think everyone would like to undo that trade. On the flipside, Jordan Hill was traded because he's only going to be a marginal NBA player, unfortunately. I'm not going to advocate losing picks for nothing (except when they clear cap room like Miami did AND it actually works in getting a star player like LeBron). However, I think it's fair to say that Donnie did a lot more good than harm and so far, we're in great position for 2011. It's not plan A, but it's something relevant, because other Knicks GMs have completely folded when plan A didn't work.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

it's all about Melo in 2011 now... people are even gonna try & spin it to say we made that trade to free up cap space next year... ESPN has already gone there... it's laughable.
