As of this second, chicago. If we (knicks) sign and trade lee for monta ellis, sign ridnour or felton. trade currys contract. We are the best possible team

Briggs is implying Miami.

I agree. Signing with Mia is instant contention.

Just depends on if he wants his own team/town or to tailgate onto Wade, and always have one less ring than his teammate in his teammate's town.

you're acting like this is just about winning. it's about a lot more - legacy, money, egos, branding, marketing.

don't simplify this briggs. you know it's not as simple as winning.

better question is - does a team of amare, lebron, gallo + $15M in expiring contracts for 2011 have a good shot at winning it all?

Well with the report that it's taking place in CT -- I think this thing has narrowed down to the Knicks and Nets...

To answer the question thinking between those two teams -- the Nets won 12 games last year and as of right now they haven't added any difference makers...They added a good young PF in the draft who's arguably as raw a prospect as any player taken in the lottery, a decent-looking SG (though they did loose CDR who was a big 2 that could play and Jordan Crawford doesn't start over C Lee or Williams so I question how much of an impact that pick makes) and then some German big man nobody's ever heard of at 31...They're still an interesting young team with a lot of pieces in place but there's definitely no Amar'e-caliber player there, maybe not even a player on Gallinari's level...Again, NJ Nets = 12 wins last year. They didn't win the lottery so no John Wall which could've made a huge difference..

Meanwhile, the NY Knicks by comparison: 5-time all-star PF in Amar'e Stoudemire who's a young 27 and in his prime (difference-maker, tremendous #2 guy for a guy like LBJ), 6'11" Gallinari & his vast potential (I'm not the hugest Gallo guy but even I gotta admit he's got a great chance of realizing his full potential playing with LBJ every day) then there's useful players in Chandler, TD, surprise contributor Bill Walker who's lost a ton of weight and looks ready to go...Plus 7'1" intriguing C Jerome Jordan, sharpshooter Andy Rautins and Landry Fields who looks more and more like Wilson Chandler/Jared Dudley every time I look at his clips -- this dude looks more than serviceable).. I tell ya what, not terrible man... NJ might have a few more young building blocks in place but NY's right there. One can even argue that NY is much more top-heavy with superior talent (thanks in large part to the Amar'e signing) than Jersey..

Using that logic, together with the earning potential that comes with playing in NYC & the cap room that we could clear next summer to continue adding, I'd choose the Knicks if I were this dude..

It can really go either way.

Harris was hurt so we don't know if he will ever be the same player. Williams is interesting as is Lee. Favors won't make that much of an impact but if he is hungry and finishes around the hope he will be very similiar to hickson. If they can bring in Boozer then it's a pick em. But seriously listening to avery johnson is there any amount of money that's worth it.

I'm stunned we haven't heard one word about Curry this summer and where he is condition wise. NY really has all the pieces that compliment his game. Finishers (Amare, Chandler, Walker) Shooters (Gallo, TD, Walker, Rautins) the biggest stage in the world. I think ESPN and all the *******s around the country underestimate that when he signs you sell 4 million Knicks Jerseys, Shoes, Hats anything Knick related. Christ camby, sprewell and houston were in the top 10 in sales in 99.

Thank god the Nets are in BK though

I actually like Bosh a lot but he didn't show any committment here so the Knicks did exactly what they needed to do and they went for the 1b big man in Amar'e...No problem at all with what the Knicks did..

Briggs... assuming the Lebron to NY is true... would you trade Gallo, Chandler and Curry for Melo to complete the triad this year, thus opening up the MLE next year? Or would you try and do it at the Feb trade deadline and hope that Chandler and/or Gallo develop?
You know I gonna spin wit it

right now if you added Lebron to the Clippers, as funny as that sounds, i think they have the best chance of winning a championship w/the roster they already have in place.

It's about potential, not last season. Baron does not have to great!

people talk about the Knicks roster as being the best fit for Lebron... we don't even have a starting C right now & our starting PG is Toney Douglas... Amare is best at PF... our bench is Bill Walker & a couple no name 2nd round picks.

look at the Clippers' roster & tell me that's not a balanced team around Lebron:

C - Kaman 7'
PF - Griffin 6'9"
SF - Lebron 6'8"
SG - Gordon 6'4"
PG - Baron 6'3"
6 - Aminu 6'9"
7 - Jordan 7'
8 - Mardy 6'6"
9 - Warren 6'4"
10 - Bledsoe 6'1"
