Could LeBron’s delay be working in New York’s favor? Quite possibly. Sources to Hoopsworld.com’s Alex Kennedy claim James’ business advisors Maverick Carter and Randy Mims could be traveling to New York on Wednesday, and LeBron may be joining them.

Carter and Mims have reportedly been grilling the Knicks’ for details on their salary cap and free-agent plans over the past few days, and there are rumblings about a massive Knicks press conference later this week – and not just for Stoudemire, who will officially sign his five-year deal on Thursday. “Something bigger may be happening in the Big Apple,” wrote Kennedy.

Over the last few days, the Knicks have been viewed as longshots to land LeBron, but some believe their second meeting with LeBron’s camp late Saturday, and the deal to bring on All-Star forward Stoudemire — they’re also set to meet with point guard Raymond Felton — have made the Knicks’ very attractive to The King. No chance Felton would play for peanuts. Would have to be a S&T deal of some sort. I am not big on Felton so I kind of hope they don't mess with this. If we have Lebron, we really don't need a starting PG. TD can bring the ball up, he can shoot 3s, he can get to the rim. He's more than up to the defensive job. Chandler can bring the ball up, same for Walker. All of our guards can do it. I'd be more inclined to think if we are not reserving cap space for Melo in 2011 that we would go as constructed in 2010.

Something like Curry+Chandler for a resigned Felton and Diop or Diaw could work

I don't think so- I don't think you need an overdribbler when Lebron is here and you want the ball in his hands. The Mo Williams version of a PG is what you want...

Nope, we don't need a PG with Lebron, just someone to bring the ball up and pass it to him. We have plenty of guys who can handle that job. Heck, even Duhon could do that much (but thankfully he will be doing it in Orlando). Lebron plus Amare should be enough to win 55+ games. But with Gallo, Chandler, and Walker shooting the lights out this team is going deep in to the playoffs.

I read about this meeting on twitter as well. Didn't have the Felton piece on any of those. But the sense you get from reading these is the LBJ has been asking lots of cap questions and you have to think they have something in mind about adding at least one other piece if there is any truth to this. No idea why it would be Felton though, I would think they would be more interested in possibility of landing Melo either now or in 2011.

thats why i found it odd felton was mentioned as being something that **may** have helped get lbj more interested. seems like yet another reeeeaaaaally bad article.

unless.... he likes felton and/or is wondering how far he can push folks to alter rosters...

I agree. A shooter type. Or, if not, then I have no problem with a young defensive minded PG like Douglas too.

You really don't need a traiditonal point guard when you have a Lebron type of player.

Word. That would be blatantly taking over the NBA for the next ten years. It would also give us some insurance in case Amare isn't insurable and his injury woes resurface. Not sure how Melo and Lebron mesh. ANybody care to comment on that? And what position would Gallo play in that lineup? Can he be expected to cover SG? Maybe Lebron guards the 2 and Gallo the 4? Is Amare durable enough to play the 5?

Amare
Gallo
Melo
Lebron
Douglas

You think Lebron wants to share the ball with Carmelo?

I don't see the Lebron/Melo pairing working out in similar fashion with me not seeing the Lebron/Wade tandem not working.

Melo's ego is just as big as Lebron's, if not bigger.

Yeah Melo/Lebron wouldn't maximize either's talent. If you have the pieces to go get a Melo you should be able to acquire pieces that would better Mesh with Lebron. I think Lebron having someone he can dump it to inside and also having shooters is the best solution. And I'd say maybe another guard off the bench who can get his own shot when Lebron is having an off night. Maybe Toney Douglas could do that? Maybe Nate wants back in? ...Okay I'm getting carried away.

mr anthony minus billups is 1 and done in the playoffs so far. that is a concern in my view. he seems to need a playmaker elsewhere to either push him or help get the team to another level. if its lbj, maybe it works. if lbj isnt here, anthony may not fit (for contedning purposes) if we dont have a real leader on court.

you guys are probably right. But then who else would they be interested in with all the cap questions? If Lebron is gonna bring up the ball quite as much, then they probably wouldn't be that interested in Parker either. Maybe they have fixated on some shot-blocking C? Anyway too much surmise..

Jrzyhustla - Clyde and The Pearl were doomed to never work for the same reasons

The press had a field day with their predictions of them needing two basketballs

Walt and Earl made it work

too much ego?

They all have too much ego. You don't get to be an elite pro player in any sport being humble and lovable

If Lebron and Carmelo want to win they will find a way to adjust

creativity

once a knick always a knick

Lebron to make announcement on ESPN at 9p.m. EST. That moron Broussard JUST said on ESPN "Don't be surprised to see it be the Knicks". What a complete DOUCHE! He should get fired.
